Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced
Material Industrial Engineer
responsible for
strategy, investment planning, design, and execution
of warehouse compression projects and material flow improvements. The primary focus of this role is to
optimize material processes, automation, labor, storage, and flow
by leveraging GM systems and strategies such as
Global Material Optimization System (GMOS)
,
Lean Material Strategies (LMS)
, and
Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
.

The ideal candidate will lead initiatives to design and implement the most efficient, lean, and cost-effective material handling solutions across the GM enterprise.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:

  • Identify and eliminate waste across the material value chain.
  • Drive material automation initiatives (AME/AMR), layout design, and routing optimization.
  • Optimize floor space, labor utilization, and material flow efficiency.
  • Develop and execute
    dock strategies, storage layouts, container design, and route planning
    .
  • Implement
    small lot strategies, kitting, and sequencing improvements
    .
  • Support warehouse compression and space utilization projects.
  • Provide technical support and problem-solving assistance to plant materials teams.
  • Analyze existing operations and implement
    Continuous Improvement (CI)
    opportunities.

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree
    in Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • 6+ years
    of Industrial Engineering experience within a
    Materials Department
    .
  • Experience in
    future program launch/execution
    preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong ability to work
    independently
    and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in
    AutoCAD
    and
    Productivity Job Study tools
    (e.g., Factory Flow).
  • Knowledge of
    work measurement, ergonomic principles, and material optimization
    .
  • Experience in
    facility layout
    and
    manufacturing / assembly processes
    .
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
