|| []; function gtag(){(arguments);} gtag('js', new Date()); gtag('config', 'UA-142498025-1'); Position Overview The Fire Alarm Service Technician 1 is responsible for performing inspections, testing, troubleshooting, repairs, and service of fire alarm systems to uphold safety and compliance standards. The Fire Alarm Service Technician 1 will work under the guidance of senior technicians or supervisors to develop expertise in fire alarm systems and related technologies. Responsibilities Conduct routine inspections of fire alarm systems per NFPA 72 and local standards to identify potential issues and ensure proper functioning. Functionally-test Initiating Devices, Notification Appliances, and all other peripherals and system components. Conduct testing of interconnected system including but not limited to elevators, HVAC shut down, fire doors etc. Assist with inspections and testing of sprinkler and special hazard systems Perform testing, troubleshooting, and repairs of fire alarm systems to address any malfunctions or deficiencies. Document all service activities, including inspections, testing results, and repairs, according to company procedures. Properly complete testing reports with noted test results and corresponding deficiencies in timely manner Communicate system performance and deficiencies to customers and to account managers for accurate and efficient quoting of recommended repairs. Collaborate with senior technicians and supervisors to learn about advanced fire alarm system technologies and best practices. Assist in the installation, maintenance, and upgrade of fire alarm systems as needed. Determine materials needed for simple repairs and order them. Respond promptly to service calls and emergency situations to resolve issues and ensure the continuous operation of fire alarm systems. Adhere to safety protocols, industry regulations, and company policies to maintain a safe working environment and uphold compliance standards. Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients, addressing their concerns, and maintaining positive relationships. Develop and maintain relationships with building owners, building managers, and other customer representatives Responsible for operation of the following test equipment: Volt Meter, Ohm Meter, Oscilloscope, Multimeter, Tone Generator, and Battery Tester. Maintain truck inventory Be on rotation to respond to afterhours service calls as scheduled by supervisor Pursue and maintain industry certifications, as well as grow technical and customer service skills with active support from M.C.Dean. Read and interpret wiring diagrams, work orders, schematics, blueprints, and specifications. Education & Experience Required High School Diploma (required) 4 years of relevant experience or 2 years technology degree and 2 years of relevant experience Certifications Requirement   NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level I or Pass NICET I exam within 90 days of employment Desired Certifications & Training Fire Extinguisher Technician Certification Tools / Software Applications MS Office Suite of products SharePoint Basic knowledge of Fire Alarm programming software (Add/Delete devices/Program from keypad etc.) Additional Required Qualifications US citizenship. Ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance. Above average level of attention to detail and professional work ethic. Commitment to excellence and a high quality of work. Knowledge of NFPA 72 and OSHA Requirements Ability to function in a controlled, effective manner under stress. Strong desire to continuously increase your skill set and take on more responsibility. Above average communication skills with customers, other field personnel, office staff and sub-contractors Physical & Personal Requirements: Lift at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period. Relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance. Work at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders. Walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis. Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English. May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools. Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem. Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events). See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Work overtime as directed by supervisor. Must be able to pass a background check. Must be able to pass random drug screening. Must have valid driver's license, good driving records to operate a MC Dean vehicle as part of this job requirement. Must consistently report to work on time, work well with other employees to accomplish a common goal, and maintain a safe work environment.
