Position Information The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) invites applications for a full-time, tenure track, 12- month faculty position in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. UMES is located in rural Maryland and is one of America’s most beautiful campuses. The UMES School of Pharmacy has been approved by the Maryland Board of Regents and obtained full Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accreditation in . Our graduate program (M.S. or PhD) has been approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) in . Responsibilities Provide didactic lectures to Pharm D students in various areas of pharmaceutics including primarily basic pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics & clinical pharmacokinetics in addition to dosage form design, compounding (non-sterile and sterile) and conduct pharmaceutic laboratory courses. Teach and mentor graduate students in the School’s M.S./Ph.D. graduate program in pharmaceutical Sciences. Develop an independent research program and obtain extramural funding. Serve on School and University committees, participate actively in National Professional organizations and in advancing the service missions of the School and University to meet community needs. Perform other related duties as assigned. Classification 29- Healthcare Practitioners and Technical Occupations Required Qualifications PharmD/Ph.D or Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics or Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent degree/specialization. Additional consideration will be given to candidates with a pharmacy background. Three years of postdoctoral teaching/research experience and mentoring experience. Must be able to demonstrate potential to procure extramural funding and develop an independent research program. Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to candidates with prior success in federal funding from NIH or NSF. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Excellent communication skills (verbal, written). Efficient organization and planning skills. Ability to develop an independent research. Ability to publish original research manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals. Working knowledge in the use of pharmacokinetic/pharmacodyanmic software including physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) and population pharmacokinetic modeling (PopPK).
