Atlanta, United States Voice Up Publishing Incorporated Full time

# Architectural Design & Sustainability Incubator & Fellowship ## Flight Academy & Voice Up Campus Development Project ### VISIONARY PARTNERSHIP This unique fellowship connects two powerful missions: Flight Academy's vision of "using sports and education to stabilize communities" and Voice Up's commitment to "connecting people to their purpose." Together, these organizations are creating a transformative 32-acre campus model designed to be replicated across cities nationwide and globally. ### MISSION ALIGNMENT **Flight Academy**, founded by former NBA player Chris "Flight" Wright, envisions a world where youth discover their purpose through holistic development. Wright's approach addresses the eight dimensions of wellness (physical, mental/intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual, occupational, environmental, and financial) through an innovative framework that recognizes how social determinants of health create systematic barriers to success. **Voice Up Publishing**, founded by Art Fuller, creates platforms that connect people to their purpose through transformative educational and wellness initiatives. With extensive experience in behavioral health leadership and facility development, Art brings expertise in creating systems that address health disparities while fostering community connection. ### HOLISTIC DESIGN FRAMEWORK This fellowship will help translate Chris Wright's comprehensive wellness vision into physical spaces that address: **Physical Wellness**: Creating state-of-the-art athletic facilities that promote physical activity while recognizing how the built environment impacts health outcomes. **Mental & Intellectual Wellness**: Designing learning pods and educational spaces that support cognitive development while addressing disparities in educational access. **Emotional Wellness**: Incorporating trauma-informed design principles that foster emotional safety, particularly for youth experiencing adverse community conditions. **Social Wellness**: Creating gathering spaces that facilitate meaningful connection and belonging across diverse populations. **Spiritual Wellness**: Designing contemplative spaces that support Wright's philosophy of "using your passion to find your purpose" and promote meaning-making. **Occupational Wellness**: Developing entrepreneurial spaces that connect youth to career pathways while addressing economic determinants of health. **Environmental Wellness**: Implementing sustainable design practices that create healthy indoor and outdoor spaces, recognizing that environmental quality is unequally distributed based on socioeconomic factors. **Financial Wellness**: Creating spaces that support financial literacy education and resource equity as fundamental determinants of long-term health outcomes. ### SCALABLE VISION The 32-acre Flight Academy campus represents more than a single community asset it's a replicable model designed for national and international expansion. As architectural fellow, you'll participate in developing: - Standardizable design elements that can be adapted to diverse geographic locations - Sustainable systems appropriate for various climate zones - Scalable construction approaches that balance design integrity with implementation feasibility - Documentation systems for knowledge transfer to future sites - Cost models that facilitate replication in communities with varying resource levels ### PROJECT PHASES & EDUCATIONAL INTEGRATION Phase 1: Site Analysis & Vision Alignment (Months 1-2) - Analyze the 32-acre campus through multiple wellness dimensions - Collaborate with both founders to align architectural vision with their complementary missions - Develop architectural language that embodies the "Great Eight" barriers framework - Create initial sustainability framework adaptable for future sites - **Educational Component**: Design workshop series introducing students to site analysis techniques and how built environments affect health outcomes Phase 2: Learning Environment Design (Months 3-4) - Develop plans for classroom spaces that integrate Wright's "Pyramid of Purpose" development model - Incorporate Art Fuller's experience with behavioral health spaces - Create flexible educational environments supporting Voice Up's remote learning innovations - Design spaces that visually reinforce the color-coded development system - **Educational Component**: Guide students through creating learning space models that promote wellness Phase 3: Community Connection Spaces (Months 5-6) - Design food court and gathering areas that foster social wellness - Create indoor-outdoor connections that promote environmental health - Develop entrepreneurial spaces supporting occupational wellness - Apply principles that foster high engagement based on Art Fuller's digital platform success - **Educational Component**: Lead design challenges focused on creating inclusive gathering spaces Phase 4: Performance & Recreation Facilities (Months 7-8) - Design amphitheater conversion supporting creative expression - Create multi-sport facilities that accommodate Wright's developmental approach - Develop spaces supporting the Swiss Flight international partnership - Integrate accessibility features addressing health equity concerns - **Educational Component**: Facilitate workshops connecting architecture to athletic development and performance Phase 5: Residential Community Development (Months 9-10) - Design renovation plans for 51-unit housing facility - Create community-building elements that address social determinants of health - Apply trauma-informed design principles to residential environments - Develop strategies to create home environments that support all wellness dimensions - **Educational Component**: Guide students through housing design challenges addressing concepts of community and belonging Phase 6: Replication Strategy Development (Months 11-12) - Finalize campus master plan with scalability considerations - Develop phasing strategies adaptable to different community contexts - Create documentation for knowledge transfer to future sites - Design assessment tools to measure built environment impact on wellness outcomes - **Educational Component**: Facilitate culminating project where students envision adaptations for other communities ### KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Collaborate with both founders to translate their wellness vision into physical spaces - Create design solutions addressing all eight dimensions of wellness - Develop strategies for replication in diverse communities - Prepare materials communicating how built environments address social determinants of health - Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure design vision maintains integrity through implementation - Document processes for knowledge transfer to future sites ### QUALIFICATIONS - Current enrollment in or recent completion of graduate program in architecture, sustainable design, urban planning, or related field - Strong portfolio demonstrating innovative design thinking - Understanding of health equity in the built environment - Experience with architectural visualization and presentation - Interest in design education and youth mentorship - Knowledge of sustainable building practices and materials - Excellent communication and collaboration skills ### PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Experience with community-based design projects - Understanding of behavioral health design principles - Background in educational and athletic facility planning - Familiarity with adaptable design systems for multiple locations - Experience with participatory design processes - Knowledge of LEED or WELL building standards --- *This fellowship offers an extraordinary opportunity to contribute to a visionary project addressing wellness through thoughtful design while creating a model with national and global impact potential.
