Learning and Development Intern - Human Resources

Springfield, IL

CMT is actively seeking to add a Learning and Development Intern to our Human Resources team for the Summer of 2025, beginning in April and/or May. Duties & Responsibilities:

With support, coaching, and direction from CMT’s Sr. Learning & Development Specialist, the Learning and Development Intern will include the following responsibilities:

  • Provide general support to the learning and development function, which oversees CMT’s professional development programs and policies
  • Support continuous improvement and instructional design for internal training programs
  • Serve as a system administrator for CMT’s Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and Learning Management System (LMS), including troubleshooting, system optimization, managing data and analytics, and ensuring data integrity
  • Support CMT’s onboarding process to ensure that HR has necessary education, experience, and credentials data on file
  • Audit existing CMT employees and populate missing education, experience, and credentials
  • Assist in documenting HR processes in CMT’s knowledge base platform
  • Support planning and facilitation of Intern Orientation Program
  • Oversee compliance training for all summer interns

Position Requirements:

  • Pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Instructional Design or related field
  • Interested in gaining experience in learning & development, talent development, and human resources
  • Understanding of basic HR principles, practices, and procedures
  • Must possess a high level of integrity, ethics, honesty, and fairness, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Basic organizational skills: multi-tasking, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Access to reliable transportation required
