The approximate base compensation range is posted, but the actual offer will reflect our total compensation and benefits package. The offer will be determined by a number of factors including the selected candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, FTE, number of months worked, as well as internal equity among our team.
Job Purpose/Description: The Executive Director of Development works collaboratively with the Vice President for College Advancement to develop, implement, and achieve innovative plans for increasing private support; provides strategic direction and oversight for major gifts, corporate gifts, planned giving, and annual giving; works strategically and collaboratively with alumni engagement to meet appropriate goals; is directly involved in the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a portfolio of leadership annual and major donors; and effectively communicates the mission and values of St. Scholastica. The Executive Director of Development plays a critical role in reaching the College's annual fundraising objectives.
Key Results/Responsibilities
Provide leadership and direct supervision for major gifts, annual giving, and alumni engagement to support goals and innovative initiatives that enhance the College.
Develop and implement fundraising strategies to achieve goals established by the President, College leadership, and the Board of Trustees.
Identify and implement strategies to increase funding for operating support, endowment, facilities, special program support, and other College priorities, with special attention to fundraising for current operations.
Review monthly and quarterly reports on progress toward goals. Adjust strategies as necessary.
Develop thoughtful and productive relationships between the Office of College Advancement and the College community including faculty, staff, and students.
Manage an active portfolio of major and leadership annual donors.
Identify, educate, cultivate, and solicit funding sources from the various constituencies of the College including, but not limited to: alumni, parents, businesses, corporations, faculty and staff, foundations, friends of the College, and parents.
Develop annual budgets for all fundraising operations.
Provide proactive budget management, and ensure that College policies and procedures are followed.
In collaboration with the Vice President for College Advancement, provide support to the Board of Trustees College Advancement Committee and to volunteer fundraising committees.
Keep abreast of current best practices in the Advancement profession and evaluate new and emerging ideas for potential implementation.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Five years of fundraising experience, preferably in higher education
Demonstrated record of successful major gift fundraising
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Understanding of the College's mission, history, traditions and Benedictine Values
Ability to work with diverse groups and individuals
Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends as required
Ability to travel regionally and nationally
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree
Experience with Slate for Advancement or other CRM's.
Skills and Abilities
Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact and collaborate with varied constituencies in a professional manner.
Creative and tactful with strong organizational and planning skills.
