OverviewAs a nonprofit and social enterprise, individual unrestricted donations are a critical component to CR's success. These gifts help us provide the independent ratings and reviews that consumers rely on to make smart buying decisions, as well as, allow us to advocate for change in the marketplace.
We are looking for a Manager, Fundraising to help develop and execute direct mail and digital fundraising campaigns for programs with donations up to $1,000. Reporting to the Director, Fundraising you will also serve as a liaison within the marketing team working on cross channel initiatives in support of these programs.
How You'll Make An ImpactYour efforts will help CR continue our important work on behalf of consumers--paving the way for truth, transparency and a fair marketplace. In this position you will
- Develop creative and strategic strategy, implementation and analysis for fundraising plans consistent with CR's unique mission and marketing principles
- Implement plans and analysis results of all fundraising efforts
- Manage a communications program that works to acquire, retain and engage donors through direct mail and digital channels.
- Oversee annual budget/reforecasts and long range forecasts, inclusive of revenue and expense.
- Work cross-departmentally with Marketing, Development, Data, Digital, Consumer Insights, Finance, and others to optimize fundraising initiatives
- Serve as main contact for the donations fulfillment vendor and sweepstakes administration vendor.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices, identifying opportunities to improve Consumer Reports' fundraising methods, structure, tools, and staff expertise.
- Lead staff with a focus on creating an innovative, collaborative, performance-driven culture.
- Perform all duties in accordance with CR Values, Compliance Program, and other policies and procedures.
- You bring the experience and the education. You have at least 5 years of experience in fundraising and marketing for nonprofits. You have also earned a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications or a related field.
- You are a strategic thinker. You have proven experience developing, implementing and analyzing fundraising campaigns.
- You are experienced with direct marketing. You have managed direct mail and digital programs that focus on acquisition, retention and engagement.
- Your numbers add up. You have been responsible for annual budget /reforecasts and long range forecasts, inclusive of revenue and expense.
- You use data to inform your strategy and tactics. You are comfortable with analyzing, reporting on and synthesizing the numbers in order to determine direction.
- You have experience managing others. whether a direct report or an outside vendor
- You are in the know. You stay abreast of industry trends and best practices and can use this knowledge to implement new ideas and make process improvements.
- You have worked at a nonprofit membership-based organization.
- You're communicative and collaborative. You have the skills and ability to lead and work cross-functionally.
- Right brain or left brain? You are versatile in mindset and skillset; able to comfortably pivot from the strategic to the tactical, and from the analytic to the creative
At Consumer Reports, we are committed to fair, transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive, market-informed compensation. The target salary range for this position is $115k to $125k. This posted range is reflective of the NY/CA market. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall near the middle of this range. Compensation for the successful candidate will be informed by the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience.
