McLean, United States ID.me Full time
Job DescriptionJob DescriptionCompany Overview

ID.me is a high-growth enterprise software company that simplifies how people prove and share their identity online. The company empowers people to control their data through a portable and trusted login, which means they don't need to create a new password when visiting sites that have the ID.me button. ID.me's digital identity network has over 117 million registered members, and is used by fourteen federal agencies, agencies in 30 states and over 600 corporations for secure identity proofing and verification.

ID.me's technology meets the federal standards for consumer authentication set by the Commerce Department and is approved as a NIST 800-63-3 IAL2 / AAL2 credential service provider by the Kantara Initiative. In addition to helping people control their credentials and data, the company's "No Identity Left Behind" initiative strives to expand digital access and inclusion for all people. The company offers multiple pathways to identity verification – online self-serve, live video chat agents, and in person. ID.me is passionate about building a robust identity network that does not compromise access for traditionally underserved groups.

ID.me has received numerous awards including Deloitte's 2023 Technology Fast 500, Washington Business Journal's Fastest Growing Companies, Entrepreneur Magazine's 100 Brilliant Companies and Wall Street Journal's Startup of the Year finalist. In recent quarters, ID.me announced it raised $132 million in Series D funding, led by Viking Global Investors with participation from CapitalG, Morgan Stanley Counterpoint, FTV Capital, PSP Growth, Auctus Investment Group, Moonshots Capital, and Scout Ventures. ID.me's most recent round brings the total investment in ID.me to over $275 million since its founding in 2010.

Role Overview

We're looking for a Staff Product Manager to lead and scale ID.me's browser extension. This is a high-impact role, allowing you to shape and grow a product that brings ID.me's core value directly into users' browsing experiences. By surfacing exclusive offers and relevant government services contextually, you'll help ID.me become a trusted, all-in-one digital companion for millions of members in diverse communities like military, teachers, nurses, and veterans. Your mission: make the ID.me extension indispensable by developing features that blend convenience, savings, and access to trusted resources right where users need them.

This role is perfect for someone with experience in consumer product management, particularly in e-commerce, marketplaces, or large-scale B2C products, who is excited by the potential of browser extension technology to deliver a unique experience.

Why ID.me's Browser Extension?

The ID.me browser extension is a game-changer, integrating exclusive e-commerce offers with resources like government services, travel discounts, and more, tailored to our users' community affiliations. Imagine our members seamlessly discovering military discounts on electronics, or teachers finding classroom supplies deals with a simple browser notification, all within a platform they trust. Beyond just a shopping tool, this extension connects users to resources that enrich and simplify their lives—creating both commerce and long-term loyalty.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop Vision & Strategy for a Unique Extension Experience
    • Lead the extension's product strategy, defining a roadmap that emphasizes both exclusive savings and access to vital services for ID.me's user base. Position the extension as a must-have tool for seamless savings and easy access to relevant resources.
  • Understand & Empathize with Community Needs
    • Dive deep into the unique needs and behaviors of our member communities, such as veterans, teachers, and first responders. Design features that resonate with each group's specific interests, whether it's savings on school supplies for teachers or healthcare resources for nurses.
  • Create a Contextually Relevant Experience
    • Prioritize and design features that surface contextually appropriate offers and information based on users' browsing behavior and real-time needs.
  • Define & Track KPIs for Growth and Engagement
    • Establish and monitor KPIs specific to the extension's performance, such as engagement rates, redemption rates, and usage frequency. Use data to inform product decisions, optimize features, and continuously iterate on the user experience.
  • Collaborate & Align Cross-Functionally
    • Partner closely with engineering, design, data and go-to-market teams to ensure a cohesive product experience, smooth feature launches, and alignment on shared business goals.
  • Prioritize and Execute with Velocity
    • Translate product vision into actionable, detailed requirements. Manage sprints and agile planning to ensure timely, high-quality releases. Lead with great product taste.
Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in product management for large-scale consumer products, e-commerce, marketplaces, or browser extensions, focusing on engagement and end-user value.
  • Experience with browser extension technology and development processes, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering on extension-specific requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data and analytics to drive product decisions, improve features, and prioritize based on measurable impact to user experience and business goals.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong experience in "zero-to-one" product development, launching and scaling products with a data-informed approach, driving adoption, engagement, and growth for both new and established products.
  • Skilled in articulating complex ideas to cross-functional teams and executive leadership, with a proven ability to build alignment and achieve results.
