Lead Tap Room Associate

Principle Responsibilities / Position Purpose
The Lead Server works in the bar and guest areas of our tap room. Lead Servers ensure that customers have an enjoyable experience by providing quality customer service. Lead servers work in the front of the business taking orders, serving drinks, collecting payment, and removing glassware from the table in a timely manner. Lead servers are role models for other servers and help managers with training and ensuring the FOH runs smoothly as a cohesive group, in addition to acting as on-duty manager when needed.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist Managers with ongoing training of current employees.
- Act as a "Buddy" for new hires, including driving their initial training program and following up with them throughout their first 90 days (this includes communicating with Management about the new hires' progress, and how to improve any deficiencies).
- Maintain Tap Room and Cooler organization and cleanliness standards.
- Act as on-duty manager, which includes opening and closing registers, tip disbursement, and ensuring the staff has completed all required tasks.
- Assist with processing discounts and comps in POS system.
- Assist with large parties and events to ensure quality of service is provided.
- Present menus to patrons and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request.
- Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and brewing methods.
- Inform customers of daily specials/offerings.
- Take orders from patrons for beverages.
- Check patrons' identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages
- Check with customers to ensure that they are enjoying their experience and take action to correct any problems.
- Prepare and present checks that itemize and total costs and sales taxes.
- Collect payments from customers.
- Clean tables or counters after patrons have finished dining.
- Stock service areas and complete required side work.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in staff training opportunities.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
OSHA laws require the use of the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing work duties that have the potential of risk to your health or safety:
- Safety goggles when walking through the Production area
Employees will be trained in the proper use and care of assigned PPE. Funky Buddha Brewery provides the required PPE. It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly to your manager.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
- Possess a valid State of Florida approved server training certification and/or be willing to successfully complete training provided by Funky Buddha Brewery.
- Strong knowledge of restaurant/tap room operations and service procedures.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Possess basic math skills, possess the ability to handle money and operate a cash register and POS system.
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 30 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Punctual and regular, reliable attendance.
- Honesty and Integrity.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge. Experience with an iPad is a plus.
- Ability to work quickly, problem solve and think on your feet while maintaining poise in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to talk to others to convey information effectively.
- Positive, infectious attitude and sense of humor. Personable, kind, and customer service oriented.
- Passion for the service industry, desire to be part of a team and work hard, high level of self-awareness and long-term view of success.
- Well-versed in: beer history; brewing techniques; preparation techniques, styles, flavor profiles or possess a willingness to learn.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
EDUCATION
High School diploma preferred.
EXPERIENCE
One year serving experience at Funky Buddha Brewery required.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
ServSafe certificate required.
GROOMING
All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.
OTHER
Additional language ability preferred.
