MindWorks Collaborative is seeking a dedicated and experienced Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired (TVI) to join our team. As a TVI, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, ensuring their access to education and supporting their academic and social-emotional growth.

Working closely with students, their families, and the school staff, you will assess students' needs, develop and implement individualized education plans, and provide direct instruction in various subject areas, including braille literacy, orientation and mobility, technology, and adaptive skills. Your compassion, patience, and ability to adapt instructional techniques to meet the unique learning needs of students with visual impairments will be essential in promoting their independence and success.

Requirements

  • Prior experience as a Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired (TVI) or a similar role (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of visual impairments and their impact on learning and development
  • Familiarity with braille (preferred)
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies used by students with visual impairments
  • Ability to conduct assessments and develop individualized education plans
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability in adjusting instructional techniques to meet individual student needs
  • Valid certification as a TVI
  • Bachelor's Degree
