The Information Technology Specialist plays a pivotal role in supporting the GHS FCU employees and manages IT infrastructure projects carried out by our third-party providers. This includes ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient operation of systems, hardware, and applications critical to daily operations. This position will proactively support technology needs, align IT initiatives with strategic goals, and contribute to the growth and success of the Credit Union.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the availability, performance, and security of IT systems and applications in alignment with Credit Union policies and regulations.
  • Perform log and system management reviews as well as operations and administration on all systems.
  • Work with third parties to support and maintain the organization's network, hardware, and software infrastructure.
  • Identify and resolve system, application, hardware, and network issues, minimizing downtime and service disruptions.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new technologies to enhance operations and member services.
  • Develop and enforce IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Lead or assist in IT-related projects, including system upgrades, integrations, and deployments.
  • Communicate with Executive Management on projects, support, and future needs planning both in writing and verbally.
  • Train and support staff on the effective use of technology resources.
  • Efforts should contribute to the Credit Union's annual business goals as announced by the CEO.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Performance Measurement:

Performance will be evaluated on the following:

  • Achievement of personal, team, and business goals as established.
  • Compliance with Credit Union procedures and policies, including Internal Controls Policy, data security, and adherence to state and federal regulations.
  • Maintenance of a secure, efficient, and user-friendly IT environment.
  • Timely resolution of IT issues and proactive prevention of potential disruptions.
  • Contribution to a professional work environment with businesslike behavior and appearance.



Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience:
  • Minimum of one year of experience in IT within a credit union, banking, or financial services environment.
  • Experience with system administration, network management, and cybersecurity is highly desirable.
  • Education:
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
  • Interpersonal Skills:
  • Requires contact with internal and external stakeholders, demanding professionalism, courtesy, and tact.
  • Strong ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively to non-technical staff.
  • Demonstrates team collaboration and customer-focused problem-solving.
  • Other Skills:
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in network management, troubleshooting, and system diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with banking or credit union software and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, cloud computing platforms, and cybersecurity protocols.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to sit or stand, use hands to handle or feel, reach with arms, and communicate clearly.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or lift/move objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
