This position is currently hiring for Winter (Jan-March, 2027) and Summer (May-June, 2027) in several locations in WA, TX, AZ, and MA. You will be able to provide your preference of location and start date during the application process but, we cannot guarantee that we can meet your selection based on several factors including but not limited to the availability and business needs of this role. Key job responsibilities As a system development engineer intern, you will/may:
* Create, improve, or invent tools and/or applications that are a part of a larger system.
* Understanding of a variety of technologies such as hardware, software, networking, and operating systems, and how they interact with one another
* Build systems and processes that enable other builders through improved safety, agility, and automation
* Seek to learn the business context and technologies behind your team’s system implementations. In addition to working on an impactful project, you will have the opportunity to engage with Amazonians for both personal and professional development, expand your network, and participate in fun activities with other interns throughout the summer. You will have the opportunity to impact the evolution of Amazon technology as well as lead mission-critical projects early in your career. Basic Qualifications
* Are enrolled in or have completed a Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related discipline
* Experience coding, scripting, automating in at least one language (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, Ruby, or PowerShell)
* Are 18 years of age or older
* Work 40 hours/week minimum and commit to 12 week internship maximum Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with open-source technologies (e.g. Linux, Spring, React)
* Experience with TCP/ICP networking fundamentals and application of IP protocols such as: DNS, DHCP, NTP, SMTP, and SNMP
* Experience with distributed computing, programs and systems
* Experience with automating and simplifying team development, test, and operations processes
* Knowledge of computer science fundamentals such as object-oriented design, operating systems, algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis
