Summary of Position

The position of Branch Manager is responsible for providing leadership and support by guiding, coaching, and scheduling branch staff; performing management duties related to branch operational activities and financial services; embracing accountability and ensuring the quality and consistency of all new account documentation and teller transactions; creating a cohesive team within the branch and across other Bank departments; assisting clients in their selection of various accounts and financial services; cross-selling the Bank's products and services; promoting business lines for new services; solving clients and operational issues, responsible for client experience and ensuring regulatory compliance. The position of Branch Manager also requires full knowledge, skills, and the ability to function as a personal banker and a teller as staffing needs arise.

This position is also responsible for business development by making outside business development calls to sell and promote all commercial and retail products and services.

Sales and Service

  • Calls on potential clients and introduces appropriate bank financial products and fee-based services
  • Utilizes CRM system to notate client requests, interactions, referrals and reports
  • Visits with referral sources regarding new business
  • Maintains awareness of and involvement in community, civic and professional activities
  • Determines financial needs of existing and prospective clients
  • Takes a proactive lead in cultivating and maintaining the front-line sales and service culture for the branch
  • Lead front line sales initiatives including cross-selling Bank products and referring clients to other American Bank lines of business or sister companies
  • Promote sales and service opportunities at all levels within the branch
  • Ensures new client protocols are completed

Operational Functions

  • Direct, develop, and motivates branch personnel
  • Attends and participates in scheduled management meetings
  • Conduct interviews and assist with hiring decisions
  • Complete informal and formal performance appraisals, and performance coaching and counseling
  • Develop and implement business development strategies to expand the branch’s client base Accountable for all branch operations activities and ensures the quality and consistency of all work
  • Serves as a mentor and trainer to new branch managers
  • Inform District Manager or Regional Manager of all operational activities and branch management issues including but not limited to staffing, facilities, personnel, and clients’ transactions
  • Know all functions within the branch and be able to perform duties as required including but not limited to all personal banker and teller duties
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Accountable for all functional activity including but not limited to teller outages, deposit account exceptions, facility and property upkeep, staff time sheets, safe deposit activity, ATM, vault duties and cash policy levels
  • Adheres to procedures and controls that are consistent with Type 1 rated audit standards
  • Responsible for authenticating the client’s identity and their authorization to act on behalf of the account as stated in the account holder's signature contract prior to releasing, changing or altering any account information

Client Service

  • Instills a high-value, distinctive and consistent client-interaction process in the regional branches. Supports the “Make It Happen” culture.
  • Take personal accountability to ensure excellent client service
  • Work with a sense of urgency to complete tasks and follow ups
  • Help minimize loss of account relationships
  • Communicates effectively with internal and external clients

Leadership Management

  • Provides leadership and management of branch staff that exemplifies the Bank’s values and ensures alignment with the Bank’s strategic goals
  • Serve as on-the-job trainer for new employees or newly promoted employees
  • Address staff concerns timely
  • Set the example in following the dress code policy
  • Develops a collaborative team environment within the branch and across the Bank
  • Willingness to assist other branches when needs arise
  • Seeks creative ways to solve issues and resolve conflicts
  • Trains and develops new team members
  • Evaluates, provides feed-back, coaches, and serves as a mentor to staff
  • Resource for personal bankers and tellers including negotiable instrument law, account opening requirements, compliance with deposit account documentation and bank policy and procedures
  • Conducts daily huddles to communicate goals, provide feedback, and address any issues or concerns
  • Performs other projects and duties as assigned
  • Develops a solid relationship with the Relationship Manager and Market Leaders
  • Conducts regular role play sessions to grow/ mentor the branch team

Experience

  • Branch Manager II: 3 - 5 years branch banking experience and management experience
  • Sr. Branch Manager: 5 years minimum branch banking experience, and 5 years management experience in leading and coaching teams

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate effectively with clients and personnel at all levels of the bank
  • Handle multiple tasks at various stages, organization - ability to complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Supervisory and management skills
  • Client service acumen
  • Knowledge of consumer and business banking products and services
  • Proven ability to lead a sales team to meet or exceed growth goals
  • Knowledge of new accounts and teller operations
  • Sales and referral skills
  • Experience in deposit account documentation
  • Experience in opening IRAs
  • Consumer lending experience preferred
  • Diligence, strong analytical skills, and the ability to prioritize and focus on detail
  • Community involvement activities preferred
  • Literate in PC hardware and various software applications including Microsoft Outlook

Education

Bachelor’s degree in business related field or equivalent work experience preferred
