Sous Chef

The Millbrook Inn as an award-winning hotel and restaurant in the Hudson Valley. We are seeking a Sous Chef to join our team You will work directly with our Culinary Director to execute and plate our inn and restaurant’s signature recipes and support our brand of hyper-local, elevated, farm-to-table cuisine. We are looking for dedicated candidates committed to expanding our clientele base and continue to deepen the restaurant's brand and reputation by serving our signature items with consistency.
NOTE: we do not relocate; must already live in the area or be willing to commute/relocate on their own.
Responsibilities:
- Run day-to-day operations in the kitchen for the culinary director and owner
- Coordinate food and kitchenware inventory and prepare shopping orders for owner
- Check freshness and quality of ingredients, label and rotate
- Help Standardize recipes and plate presentations for consistency with culinary director and owner
- Work with management to create a memorable experience for guests
- Keep kitchen clean according to local sanitary codes and requirements
Qualifications:
- Previous sous chef experience
- Knowledge of cost and labor systems
- Passion for food and cooking techniques
- Strong leadership qualities
- Ability to thrive under the pressure of high season environments, when the kitchen is slammed
- Ability to thrive and be productive during our slower season, when kitchen is slower, and a self-starting personality can find kitchen and culinary projects to add value to our team
