Job Title: Process Support Specialist
Contract Duration: 2 Months
Pay rate up to $20/hr

Summary

  • Process Support Specialist will be responsible for supporting product quality that meets customer expectations and "learning systems” that include raw material quality, process control, process troubleshooting, process optimization, and production improvements.

Essential Duties 60 %
  • Contribute to site safety programs and adhere to plant safety policies; complete required safety training and use safe work practices; participate in Safety and Housekeeping audits.
  • Lead shingle Quality Training for QA and Production departments.
  • Assist with trials of process improvement, raw materials, cost reduction, corporate initiatives, etc as directed. This includes assisting with pre-trial testing, communication of trial plans, post-trial testing, off-shift coverage, and wrap-up reports.
  • Promote product/process improvement changes by using daily plant interactions, review of online testing, process data review, equipment inspections, and customer feedback.
  • Submit and track changes in procedures and processes to support productivity, process, cost, reliability, and quality improvement; manage and champion the PCN system for these changes.
  • Resource for operational troubleshooting, problem-solving, and debottlenecking efforts.
  • Assist with process updates to Job Banding documents, JSAs, and SOPs.
  • Supports and champions Factory of the Future Initiatives as needed.
  • Apply continuous improvement methods such as 5S and LEAN principles to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee center-lining efforts on the production line and audit systems regularly for compliance.
  • Reviews Braincube database daily and reports out on deviations from the centerline on raw material, finished product test, and process conditions through pre-meeting presentations.

  • Develop operating instructions, troubleshooting guides, or process target guidance for manufacturing processes or new equipment as needed.
  • Provide training on new procedures as needed.
  • Improve visibility and insights from training dashboards, and operator audits by using Google Suite.
  • Review online Quality Assurance testing to ensure conformance to specifications for finished products.
  • Verify incoming raw material conformance to specifications. Track and compare internal testing to vendor COAs.
  • Supports Quality Technician with QA Lab tests, calibrations, and audits. Fills in for Quality Technician during their absence.

  • Manage glass mat inventory (FIFO) and rewind roll usage - drive glass mat
  • waste reduction.
  • Completes benchmarking with other plants to find opportunities that other plants are already utilizing.
  • Actively participates in the monthly Shingle plant process group meetings, a member of one or more CoP groups.
  • Support tours for the Shingle Plant operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Technical knowledge/skills (intermediate)
  • Familiar with the application of standard Manufacturing concepts, practices & procedures
  • Some Knowledge of Statistical analysis, Kepner Tregoe, Root Cause Failure Analysis
  • Experience in software packages – Google Suite; familiar with Statistical Process Control graphing software or other process monitoring tools
  • High volume manufacturing knowledge General knowledge/skills (intermediate)
  • Communication skills – proficiency in written, verbal, and listening skills
  • Organizational skills – able to plan, execute, and control multiple tasks simultaneously in a very detailed manner
  • Skilled in problem-solving
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience

Education/Experience
  • High School graduate; 15 years of industrial experience minimum
  • Minimum 7 years experience as Quality Technician
  • Technical or college degree a plus
