Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Sales Specialist to join our team in the food industry. This role requires a passion for the food sector and a proven track record in developing and expanding business relationships. You will build and maintain strong connections with clients and partners, including groceries, restaurants, distributors, and other food-related businesses. The position is preferred based in California and involves frequent travel across the United States to engage with clients, explore new opportunities, and stay informed about market trends and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
· Sales & Strategy: Drive revenue growth by identifying new business opportunities and expanding existing relationships. Meet sales goals and execute effective sales strategies to acquire and retain clients.
· Sales Planning: In the first 100 days, and in conjunction with the company VP Sales and Marketing, build an actionable territory plan to provide measurable priority and accountability success guidelines.
· Customer Support: Handle customer issues quickly and professionally, maintaining trust and satisfaction to foster long-term relationships.
· Client Focus: Address customer feedback in a timely and courteous manner, ensuring excellent service, and maintaining strong, loyal partnerships with clients, including groceries, restaurants, distributors, and other food-related businesses.
· Networking & Relationship Building: Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders, including distributors, restaurant owners, grocery store chains, and other food industry partners, helping to grow the company's presence in the market.
· Product Launches & Promotions: Keep clients informed of new product launches, promotional offers, and other company updates to drive engagement and increase sales.
· Market Expansion: Identify and pursue opportunities for market growth across the US, leveraging regional consumer trends and industry insights.
· Regulatory Knowledge: Stay up-to-date on food industry regulations, ensuring compliance with local and state laws.
· Negotiations & Contracts: Negotiate favorable terms with clients while adhering to legal and ethical standards to ensure mutually beneficial agreements.
· Partnership Development: Establish strategic partnerships to enhance brand recognition and expand market reach.
· Market Reporting: Monitor industry trends and competitor activity, providing actionable insights to help shape business strategy. Prepare regular sales performance reports and update the team on business development progress.
· Work Completion: Complete tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the manager, contributing to the team's overall success and ensuring smooth operations.
Qualifications:
· Experience: Minimum of 5 years in sales or business development in the food industry, with a strong network of connections with groceries, restaurants, distributors in California, and other food-related businesses across the US.
· Skills:
o Proven ability to meet sales targets and grow market share.
o Demonstrated business development success along with account management credentials
o Strong networking, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
o Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
o Strong understanding of market trends, competitor strategies, and consumer preferences in the food industry.
o Technology competent – familiar with CRM and use of spreadsheets, presentation materials and video conferencing
· Other:
o Willing to travel frequently across the US.
o Legally authorized to work in the United States.
