Maintenance Supervisor

Pay: $32.00/hour
Location: Kokomo, IN

Position Overview:
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of machinery and processes in assigned production areas. This includes leading and coaching teams, implementing preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to achieve zero equipment failures and optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Team Leadership and Development:

    • Coach and assist Team Leaders and Team Members on 5S (Sweep, Sort, Sift, Sanitize, Sustain) activities.

    • Support the cross-functional team in identifying and addressing the top five problems using WCM (World Class Manufacturing) tools.

    • Act as Production Business Unit Leader when required.

    • Coach, mentor, and develop skilled trade employees to enhance team capabilities.

  2. Maintenance and Equipment Optimization:

    • Manage machine classifications using cost deployment and breakdown maps.

    • Lead OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), and MTTR (Mean Time to Repair) analysis to minimize breakdowns and stoppages.

    • Oversee spare parts management to reduce downtime due to part availability.

    • Ensure execution of CILR (Cleaning, Inspecting, Lubricating, Re-tightening) activities and reduce CILR time to improve OEE.

    • Provide maintenance support for machinery and production-related activities.

    • Implement visual controls to enhance workplace organization and provide status updates at a glance.

  3. Continuous Improvement and Process Analysis:

    • Drive the Emergency Work Order (EWO) process to document and resolve equipment failure issues.

    • Analyze process parameters influencing product variation and coordinate process improvement actions.

    • Participate in PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) to identify and mitigate risks.

    • Support the implementation of AM (Autonomous Maintenance), PM (Professional Maintenance), QC (Quality Control), FI (Focused Improvement), and PD (People Development) pillar standards using WCM methodology.

  4. Collaboration and Communication:

    • Facilitate communication between departments, production lines, and internal suppliers.

    • Obtain external resources and technical information for challenges beyond team capabilities.

    • Assist in updating job instructions, one-point lessons, and pre-flight checklists.

  5. Safety and Compliance:

    • Ensure safety and integrity within the work environment.

    • Adhere to and enforce all safety protocols and procedures.

    • Monitor KPI (Key Performance Indicator) metrics and support activities to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Minimum 3 years of industrial automation and project management experience.

  • Ability to work any shift and overtime as required.

  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with employees at all levels, from hourly staff to senior leadership.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering field.

  • Experience in continuous improvement systems and lean manufacturing.

  • Experience leading maintenance teams in a unionized environment.

  • Green Belt/Red X/Six Sigma training.

  • Familiarity with controls, robotics, drives, and system-level communication systems.

  • Knowledge of sealing systems, glass cell systems, various conveyance systems, welding processes, paint systems, vision systems, and sensors.

  • Familiarity with WCM pillar methodology and Google Suite software programs.
