Pharmacy Technician Compensation

  • The pay rate for this position is $18.00 per hour
  • Benefits are available to full-time employees after 90 days of employment
  • A 401(k) with a company match is available for full-time employees with 1 year of service on our eligibility dates

Pharmacy Technician Highlights

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 11:30 AM–8:00 PM, and every third weekend
  • Training Schedule: First 2 weeks: Monday–Friday, 9:30 AM–6:00 PM; weekends are typically 9:00 AM–5:00 PM or 10:00 AM–6:00 PM
  • Location: 225 Stedman Street #STE 27, Lowell, MA 01851
  • Certification: Must have a Pharmacy Technician license in the state of MA

Pharmacy Technician Responsibilities

  • Fill prescription items, including packaging medications for dispensing and delivery, meeting accuracy and productivity standards
  • Label products appropriately, including cautionary or auxiliary labels
  • Participate in the periodic inventory of the pharmacy
  • Check in drugs and supplies, stock shelves, and remove expired items from inventory
  • Prepare medications, including emulsions, liquids, powders, and ointments, with potential non-sterile compounding
  • Communicate with internal and external customers in a pleasant and professional manner
  • Process returned medications for credit or destruction
  • Assist in the training of new employees
  • Perform at least one of the following duties:
    • Work in the Controlled Drugs (Narcotics) Room
    • Work with automated machines to prepack drugs
    • Manage inventory functions, monitoring pharmaceutical levels and identifying expired medications
    • Input patient data and medication orders into a computer system to produce labels
    • Mix/package IV medications, sanitize IV room, equipment, and hood
  • Service facility-based medication dispensing machines (e.g., RxNow)
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

Pharmacy Technician Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: Experience in a pharmacy setting and with medical terminology
  • Skills:
    • Ability to operate a computer
    • Ability to recognize and identify medications
    • Detail-oriented, goal-oriented, and effective oral communication skills
  • Licenses/Certifications: Pharmacy Technician license in the state of MA

Preferred:

  • Long Term Care pharmacy experience
