The Construction Manager oversees the pricing, planning, implementation, supply, field support, tracking, and deliverables of projects and program services (multiple service lines provided for one project or client) from its inception to close. This position requires the ability to monitor, maintain, and report the financial and physical status of projects to the Director, President, and project stakeholders. The Construction Manager serves as the primary contact for clients and the internal administrative team, as well as maintaining effective communications schedules, production, budgets, quality and safety standards for field personnel.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Selects, contracts, and oversees field personnel for specific needs in the construction process.
  • Supervises each crew to ensure that work meets production, quality and safety standards for each project.
  • Oversees project administrative personnel assigned to a specific project or task within their assigned program.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Provides leadership and support for the initial planning stage by collaborating with project managers, clients, engineers, or other involved parties; develops detailed description of jobs and materials necessary to complete project.
  • Manage entire projects or program services from costing and planning stage, all the way to field completion and close.
  • Demonstrate a team focus, provide leadership, support, and adhere to sound business practices.
  • Streamline the delivery process by implementing processes and applying new technology.
  • Collaborate with the customer to determine the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion.
  • Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project.
  • Supports schedules and coordinates projects in logical steps and budgets the time necessary to meet each deadline.
  • Supports budget estimates and regularly communicates with project stakeholders and clients concerning budget progress and costs.
  • Plans, coordinates, organizes, oversees, and directs activities regarding the construction and maintenance of assigned structures, facilities, and systems.
  • Ensures safety standards and guidelines are followed on the jobsite and that all safety codes are met in construction.
  • Supports billing with updates and timely submittal.
  • Collaborates with project managers, clients, supervisory staff, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve problems, including work procedures, complaints, and construction or design issues.
  • Manages and leads field actions that are necessary due to delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction sites.
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships with a variety of people, including owners, managers, designers, supervisors, tradespersons, and craft workers, and the general public.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with ARC and GIS software.
  • Thorough understanding of contracts, plans, specifications, and regulations.
  • Ability to remain flexible and efficient in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to make intelligent and quick decisions, working well under pressure, and when faced with unexpected occurrences or delays.
  • Ability to effectively multitask while analyzing and solving problems.
  • Thorough understanding of engineering, architectural, and other construction drawings.
  • Ability to provide leadership to a crew.
Education and Experience:
  • College degree or equivalent work experience in the field of Construction required.
  • At least 15 years of construction experience required.
  • At least 7 years of management experience of multiple crews required.
  • Construction Manager certification by the American Institute of Constructors or Construction Management Association of America preferred.
  • OSHA 30 Certification preferred
  • OSHA 10 Certification required
  • CDL License preferred
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Extensive travel required (200+ days, year).
  • Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
  • Must be on-call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite.
