Position OverviewThe position is an academic rank of Tenure-Track Associate Professor/Professor of Rehabilitation Counseling in the School of Health Sciences, with a start date of August 2025. This is a full-time, 9-month faculty position at an open rank, with the potential for tenure at the Associate Professor or Professor level. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, serving as faculty advisor, mentoring students, producing scholarly research, facilitating presentations, engaging in procurement of extramural funds, and participating in departmental and university service.
Department Required SkillsWe seek a candidate who exemplifies excellence in teaching students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and is committed to creating inclusive learning environments. The ideal candidate will:
- Have expertise in leveraging instructional technologies to enhance student learning.
- Show evidence of teaching experience at undergraduate and graduate levels, including online and hybrid instruction.
- Demonstrate the ability to mentor students in research or experiential education.
- Exhibit a track record or potential for interdisciplinary collaboration in teaching and research.
- Show evidence of scholarly activities, including publications and presentations.
- Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and active participation in professional organizations.
Candidates must:
- Hold a doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Rehabilitation Counselor Education or a related field from a CACREP-accredited program.
- Be a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) or CRC-eligible.
- Have at least five years of teaching experience in rehabilitation counseling for Associate-level applicants (9 years for Professor-level applicants).
- Be eligible for LMHC-A or LMHC licensure in North Carolina within one year.
- Possess experience teaching core CACREP-accredited courses in rehabilitation counseling.
- Have experience as a rehabilitation counselor or in a closely related field.
- Demonstrate evidence of online teaching and use of LMS platforms.
- Provide clinical supervision to counseling trainees.
- Show a history of working effectively with diverse populations.
Teaching and Advising (60%)
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses using various approaches.
- Develop detailed course syllabi and deliver engaging instruction.
- Maintain regular communication with students and monitor progress.
- Serve as an academic advisor and mentor.
Scholarship, Research, and Creative Activity (30%)
- Develop and execute a research agenda aligned with the university’s mission.
- Present at professional conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
- Collaborate with faculty to secure external funding.
University, Professional, and Community Service (10%)
- Serve on departmental and university committees.
- Participate in discipline-specific professional organizations.
- Engage with the local community related to rehabilitation counseling.
