Quality Control Manager

The Quality Control Manager is essential for the overall implementation and operations of the quality management system. This role manages the quality control activities Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) compliance duties of the manufacturing facility.
This position is based in Los Angeles, CA 90058, and will oversee Quality Control operations across all our current states.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Directly leads and manages the functional Quality Control organization on a day-to-day basis to meet all certifications and standards.
- Working under the Director of Manufacturing is responsible for ensuring all personnel are familiar with quality assurance, quality control, and general technical operations.
- Assists with overseeing tasks associated with inspecting and testing products.
- Ensures that products or services meet quality standards and develops corrective action when needed. Develops, implements, and assesses processes and policies designed to test products and services.
- Monitors and evaluates current testing processes, making recommendations for improvements when necessary. Enforces regulatory compliance.
- Diverse knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques, and documentation.
- Responsible for communicating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures by ensuring self and subordinate employees are following Company and department policies, health and safety rules and regulations, and strict adherence to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedure) and cGMP’s.
- Train employees by providing appropriate orientation and giving them the information, knowledge, and materials necessary to perform their jobs.
- Oversees the quality management system in accord with ISO/IEC 17025 and state regulatory requirements.
- Must demonstrate competence prior to independently performing any job duty, including all elements of the quality management system.
- Participates in conducting internal audits, as directed.
- Heads activities in preparation of annual management reviews.
- Maintains a safe environment in which employees are protected from physical, chemical, and biological hazards.
- Develops and maintains SOP, Manufacturing protocols and job specific training.
- Monitors environmental conditions. Conducts visual and physical inspections of company products and materials.
- Manages and motivates the quality control team by assigning duties to each employee, explaining how these duties are to be done and communicating how the successful performance of those duties will be measured.
- Monitors and corrects performance issues in real time and appropriately documents issues and corrective actions.
- Regularly leads and directs the work of other employees.
- Exercises authority for personnel decisions related to hiring, promotion, and separations within the department.
- Oversees the overall operations of the department, ensuring teams meet performance targets.
- Applies discretion and independent judgment in decision-making for departmental operations and issues.
- Primarily engaged in a managerial capacity, the worker is integral to enterprise management, overseeing employee training, determining changes in employee status, assigning job duties, drafting management policies, addressing disciplinary issues, and ensuring strict compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Must be able to work at least 40 hours a week. Flexible availability to work both day and night shifts plus some weekends.
- Perform other duties as needed in support of business objectives assigned by supervisor.

- Proven ability to communicate and work seamlessly with both technical and business teams.
- Labor Laws: Demonstrates basic knowledge of wage & hour laws, workplace safety regulations, & anti-discrimination/harassment laws to mitigate legal risks & penalties associated with non-compliance.
- Policy & Procedure: Adheres to company policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the team's operations.
- Documentation & Data Integrity: Adheres to established procedures for data input and timeliness into designated systems/databases to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
- Strategic Planning: Implements daily processes, considering timelines, risks, and resources to accomplish goals.
- Monitoring: Implements feedback and reflects on relevant data in order to effectively evaluate progress towards goals.
- Communication: Practices clear, concise, and timely communication to foster clarity, alignment, & trust.
- Teamwork: Contributes to a culture of transparency & belonging that supports ownership towards shared goals.
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Biology or related science or related field preferred.
- 3 - 5 years of experience in contact center quality assurance teams, ideally at one or more organizations that have 2-sided marketplace structures
- 1 - 3 years of experience in a business-related field
- A solid record of accomplishment demonstrating the ability to manage team performance, results, and development
- Must be over 21 years of age.
- This position requires keen attention to detail, thorough understanding of ISO/IEC, and thorough understanding of all regulatory requirements.
- Requires diverse knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques, and documentation.
- Prolonged periods of standing, sitting at a desk, and/or working on a computer.
- Be able to stand, bend, kneel, squat, and twist for prolonged periods of time.
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift 50 lbs. to a minimum height of 5 feet and able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet, with or without mechanical assistance
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
- Must be able to stand, sit for prolonged periods of time, bend, kneel, squat, and twist.
- Must be able to complete repeated twisting, grasping, reaching, turning, stooping, and lifting activities throughout shift and for prolonged periods of time.

This role operates in a cannabis manufacturing setting where exposure to fine plant particles, such as dust from grinding or trimming, is common. The company provides all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) to maintain safety and comfort while working in this environment.
