Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Transportation BIM Specialist, we'll count on you to:

  • Utilize automated design software and engineering knowledge to prepare preliminary and final plans with no direction from the Engineer or technical professional
  • Perform quantity estimates and design calculations
  • Develop highway and roadway projects in a 3D digital delivery environment, working in close coordination with the project team
  • Participate in the collection and analysis of data required for roadway/highway engineering design
  • Provide strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including ability to mentor direct preparation of drawings by other BIM Specialists or other staff of lesser experience
  • Accurately model BIM elements in the correct special constraints of the modeling environment, using the current 3D software
  • Execute all Digital Delivery requirements identified on the project
  • Be open to opportunities to work with variety of clients, projects, digital delivery staff and or contractor representatives

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Civil Technology, or combination of education and relevant experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with civil engineering/site development projects
  • Knowledge of CAD, design development, construction documents, technical and engineering principles
  • Demonstrates hands on experience using Autodesk (AutoCAD Civil3D) or Bentley (MicroStation Open Roads) design software for model based digital delivery
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including ability to gather, organize and interpret data for design development
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Microsoft Office skills
  • Understanding of conveyance and collection piping systems, profile development, and site grading are a plus
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture

Required Qualifications
  • Technical degree or a minimum of 3 years related industry experience
  • Technically qualified with 3D design software and document management infrastructure
  • Competency of Microsoft Office products and communication tools
  • Experience with 3D Coordination tools
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational traits are essential
  • Intermediate understanding of engineering or architectural concepts
