Department Overview

Integrated Grid Planning is responsible for developing stable, multi-year investment plans using a data driven approach that solves for multiple needs to achieve our strategic objectives for the electric Transmission and Distribution systems. Integrated Grid Planning bundles work that addresses multiple needs (e.g., wildfire risk reduction, expanding capacity to serve new or growing load, improving asset health, and improving reliability), creating efficiencies that reduce the cost of delivering safe, clean, and affordable energy to our customers.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for leading Integrated Grid Planning (IGP) strategy and internal/external advocacy efforts. The successful candidate will own the IGP enterprise roadmap, ensure functional area alignment with said strategy, communicate objectives and outcomes to internal and external stakeholders, ie. CPUC, and partner with IGP portfolio and process leads to advocate for IGP to be the single risk-based asset investment strategy for investor owned utility at the state and federal level.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need.

Job Responsibilities

  • May manage cross functional projects or teams.
  • Solves unique and complex problems, anticipating issues and developing innovative solutions.
  • Demonstrates strategic leadership with internal stakeholders to support Company goals.
  • Leads development of program goals and metrics to meet company goals and objectives. Collaborates across organization to ensure alignment of goals to support program.
  • Responsible for utilizing other departments and teams to meet program goals.
  • Organize and lead cross-utility project teams to influence utility, regulatory and/or industry decisions.
  • Develops or provides significant input to PG&E leadership, other utilities with similar programs, industry and/or regulatory decision makers to influence strategies impacting PG&E and its customers.
  • Presents findings and makes recommendations to management. Works with all levels of management and senior leadership across functions to influence decisions.
  • Adopt and leverage PG&E’s performance playbook to achieve IGP desired outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 10 years
  • Desired: Knowledge and understanding of electric utility processes, regulatory requirements, critical success factors, goals and initiatives.
  • Ability to use understanding of the business to help drive strategic decision making, and to recommend operational improvements.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Experience leading cross-functional project teams.
  • Experience leading cross cutting programs and/or technology deployments.
  • Strong process understanding.
  • Competency in developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
  • Competency in planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals.
  • Competency in providing direction, delegating, and removing obstacles to get work done.
  • Advanced presentation skills to effectively convey complex issues to internal and external parties of various levels.
  • Expertise in communication, interpersonal/collaboration influence and negotiation, and process management.
  • Ability to work in a matrixed environment and a positive execution-oriented mentality.
  • Ability to lead large and complex projects working with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to create compelling business cases based on complex business environments and inputs.
  • Adept at addressing issues with diplomacy and tact.
