Description
Front Office Sports is seeking a dynamic Director, Production to oversee day-to-day production for Front Office Sports shows and other video-first content.
This is a new role at an exciting time in the company's life cycle as we continue the transition from a single brand media company into a multi-platform, IP-led media company that delivers content directly to our audience across all of the major social and digital platforms, as well as our owned and operated channels.
This role requires someone who has a keen eye for news, has hired and managed teams of producers, and has both technical and editorial sensibilities and the drive and the desire to build meaningful IP.
This role requires someone who understands the workload and focus that comes with working at a dynamic and fast paced media company.
This role will report directly to the Vice President, Multimedia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the day to day production of Front Office Sports shows and other video-first content
  • Lead content planning and decision-making processes, ensuring alignment with company goals and audience preferences
  • Manage team of producers and hosts, while supporting in their overall growth and development
  • Oversee pre and post-production on all shows and other video-first content, making sure standards are met from a visual and editorial perspective
  • Oversee all production operations, including technology in office studios
  • Develop and improve existing video franchises
  • Manage the entire production budget, including forecasting, tracking expenses, and optimizing resource allocation
  • Partner with multiple teams to ensure cohesive and effective content production and distribution

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • 7+ years of production experience
  • Previous experience managing producers, editors, and hosts, preferably with a digitally native media and news publisher
  • Experience producing and editing a daily audio/video show is strongly preferred
  • Ability to work efficiently on deadline; adaptability to varying workflows and editorial demands
  • Sharp eye for talent and guests who will bring compelling stories
  • Comfortable with being a player coach and being able to get in the weeds when needed
  • Passion for working with and sourcing a network of diverse talent, bringing unique voices into the Front Office Sports Community
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Experience managing production responsibilities across multiple shows
  • Able and willing to travel, in addition to working non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends as needed
  • An obsession with production quality and strong creative skills in segment producing, script and outline writing, and host prep and direction
  • Expert technical understanding of recording equipment, hosting platforms, and production software (i.e., Riverside, Megaphone, Spotify Ad Analytics, Apple Connect, Streamyard, OBS, etc., )
  • Strong interest and fluency in the business of sports
  • Experience building operational processes and working in collaboration with multiple departments
  • A self-starter capable of taking initiative and leading a team
  • Strong sports, media, and PR industry relationships to ensure a pipeline of guests for programming
  • Experience building audiences via unique, effective strategies for newly launched shows
  • Comfortable managing both live and pre-recorded broadcasts
  • Comfortable spearheading production for live events
  • Deep understanding of content trends and the ability to make data-driven decisions to keep content current and relevant
