Position Summary
The Logistics Support Specialist role is responsible for establishing, coordinating and optimizing Metrea’s global freight forwarder and Customs broker network and related process (e.g. freight audit, recordkeeping, inventory controls) in order to achieve effective and efficient logistics support to enterprise and site operations. Additionally the Logistics Support Specialist will monitor and when required intervene in the movement of parts, ground support equipment, tools, and other products to enterprise warehouses and operating sites to ensure timely material delivery of material.
Due to the global nature of Metrea's operations, this position requires a working knowledge and willingness to develop expertise in compliance with ITAR, EAR, and other regulatory regimes governing movement of dual-use and defense articles across international boundaries.
Role and Responsibilities
  • Logistics Network: help build, sustain and optimize a network of logistics partners to support both domestic and international import/export operations.
  • Supply Chain Optimization: assist with designing and enhancing Metrea's global supply chain, focusing on transportation and distribution networks to balance effectiveness, regulatory compliance, and cost.
  • Improve Trade Lanes: help identify and implement improvements to enhance the timeliness and cost-effectiveness of trade routes between enterprise warehouses and forward operating bases.
  • Monitor and Report Logistics Activities: help oversee import/export operations- providing regular updates on shipment statuses, delivery performance, and potential bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with Internal Teams: work closely with Inventory, Procurement, and Global Trade Compliance teams to meet delivery schedules and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage Documentation: assist internal & external stakeholders with generation and retention of import and export documentation including commercial invoices, customs declarations, EEI filings and similar.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: support adherence to domestic and international trade requirements, leveraging systems such as CBP ACE and maintaining strong relationships with customs officials and regulatory bodies.
  • Negotiate and Manage Logistics Contracts: assist in negotiating and managing rates, contracts, and invoices from carriers, freight forwarders, and other logistics providers (including freight audit) to optimize costs and service levels.
  • Support Global Inventory Management: partner with global trade and inventory management teams to ensure the accuracy, timeliness , and completeness of shipment documentation and records.

Education:
  • Associate Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or similar field

Experience:
  • 5+ years supply chain experience
  • 3 years experience in aviation logistics, including frequent movements across international boundaries

Computer Skills:
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Microsoft Excel (expert level)


Preferred Education, Experience and Certificates
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Hands-on experience managing freight forwarding, Customs brokerage or similar operations
  • Experience moving mission-critical materials in an AOG or other just-in-time environment
  • Experience with Veryon, Amos or similar Aviation/MRO platform
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics D365

Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Must be able to accomplish any and all duties with little or no assistance
  • Must have good command of the English language; oral and written
  • Must have a valid driver’s license

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours and work shifts may change in accordance with department and business needs. Exempt Employees must have the ability to be on-call and available, as business needs require. Non-Exempt employees may be required to work over 40 hours per week with approval from the department manager.
Travel
Travel requirements are between 25 – 35%.
Work Location
Work from home- with some travel primarily to Metrea locations in Bethany, OK and Temecula, CA
