This Operations and Management Consultant Manager (Intake Manager) position is an SES position within the Office of Inspector General located in Tallahassee, Florida. This position manages and oversees the intake referrals for Investigations and provides direct supervision to staff in the Investigations intake unit. This function requires analyzing complaint data and ensuring that staff enters the data correctly into the complaint tracking system.

The Intake Manager is expected to:

  • Provide direct supervision to one Administrative Assistant II, one Administrative Assistant I, and one Administrative Secretary.
  • Exercise independent judgment in all supervisory duties including, but not limited to, hiring and selection, developing performance plans, conducting performance appraisals, planning and directing work, approving leave, and taking disciplinary action as appropriate and through protocols set by the Inspector General and the Office of the Chief Inspector General.
  • Collect, evaluate, and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document work, and other activities relating to the improvement of operational and management practices.
  • Conduct fact-finding research as assigned.
  • Process and determine disposition for all complaints and review management inquiry responses for closure or assignment.
  • Complete whistleblower determination interviews and forms and request whistleblower extensions when necessary.
  • Help organize data for presentation in reports and other documents.
  • Review and process incident reports.
  • Meet regularly with staff to discuss office procedures, agency issues, office goals, and work assignments.
  • Ensure staff members attend necessary training within designated timeframes.
  • Brief the Inspector General and Chief of Investigations on matters requiring immediate attention and high-profile matters received.
  • Handle all investigative information obtained with discretion to ensure its integrity and confidentiality in accordance with § 20.055, F.S.
  • Follow established rules, regulations, and procedures, and adhere to and monitor compliance of mandatory purchasing requirements.
  • Demonstrate, model, and reinforce the agency’s values of fairness, cooperation, respect, commitment, honesty, excellence, and teamwork.

  • Handle other duties and special assignments as required.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • A four-year (Bachelor's) degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Experience interpreting or applying laws, rules, policies, procedures, or contract provisions.
  • Experience working with computer-based software, such as word-processing, database, and spreadsheet applications.

Also, employees are subject to background re-screening at least every five years.
