Pay range: $95,000.00 - $119,000.00 (Depending On Experience)

Are you a passionate and creative project manager, looking to build a coalition of ICLS advocates, volunteer attorneys, law students, community partners, and others to help close the justice gap in Riverside and San Bernardino counties? Are you energized at the prospect of shaping the next generation of attorneys and legal advocates in one of the largest regions in California? This position might be right for you. ICLS seeks an experienced and talented lawyer with a deep commitment to public interest practice and pro bono expertise to join our Pro Bono Team as Managing Attorney – Law School and Local Community Volunteer Programs.

In this role, supervised by the Pro Bono Director and in collaboration with the Pro Bono Team, you will: 1) build and manage a local signature, volunteer program; 2) develop and implement the vision of ICLS’ Student Programs; 3) focus on local volunteer recruiting initiatives; 4) assist in other Pro Bono projects and programs; and 5) assist Pro Bono Director in team management responsibilities, as needed.

You’ll also get the opportunity to expand your legal network by working collaboratively with volunteers and community-based organizations, participating in local bar association events, and learning about the civil legal aid community – local, statewide, and national.

Job Related Expectations: Local Signature, Volunteer Program:
  • Building and overseeing the day-to-day running of a robust client services program.
  • Overseeing the delivery of legal services, ensuring staff and volunteer excellence.
  • Developing a training curriculum for staff and volunteers.
  • Strategically building and expanding the program to meet community demand for in-person legal aid.
  • Managing relationships with staff, volunteers, community partners, and others involved in the program.
  • Overseeing grant compliance and identifying funding sources.
Overseeing ICLS’ Student Programs:
  • Refining and implementing the vision of ICLS’ Student Programs.
  • Overseeing various student programs and developing strategies for student incorporation throughout ICLS.
  • Overseeing the annual calendar reflecting ICLS’ Law Student Programs.
  • Developing a strategic plan for partnerships with law schools and universities.
  • Overseeing legal clinics and training for law students.
  • Managing the Project Coordinator – Student Programs.
Managing Local Volunteer Initiatives:
  • Refining and implementing the vision of ICLS’ Local Pro Bono Strategies.
  • Overseeing local volunteer initiatives with law firms, solo practitioners, and bar associations.
  • Developing strategies for volunteer engagement with ICLS clients.
Assisting on Other Pro Bono Projects and Initiatives:
  • Building and facilitating community partnerships to expand relationships and strengthen volunteer ties.
  • Expand legal expertise and develop training materials for volunteers.
  • Participating in pro bono community initiatives.
Team Management Responsibilities:
  • Reviewing timekeeping and expense reports.
  • Drafting employee evaluations and work plans.
  • Onboarding and training new staff.
  • Ensuring case compliance and overseeing team-specific grant requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Degree from law school and active member of the California Bar.
  • At least 4 years of legal experience.
  • Experience creating pro bono opportunities for law students and volunteers.
  • Supervisory, mentoring, and management experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to addressing poverty law issues.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations.
