Inland Counties Legal Services (ICLS) seeks a highly motivated individual with strong project management skills to join our team to oversee our Lawyer in the Library (“LITL”) program. ICLS is a nonprofit organization providing free legal services to people of limited means residing in Riverside and San Bernardino counties. ICLS targets services to seniors and those in the greatest social and economic need.

Overview of Position & Responsibilities

The LITL Lead Attorney will play a critical role in advancing the mission of ICLS by managing and expanding our Lawyer in the Library program. The program is currently in its third year of providing in-person direct legal services or legal information to library patrons at four Riverside County Public Library System locations. ICLS aims to fine-tune the delivery of services and expand the program to one or more additional locations.

This role involves close collaboration with the Deputy Director of Litigation and Practice Group Directors to staff the program, train LITL attorneys, and ensure alignment with programmatic goals and compliance with reporting requirements. The role also interfaces with library staff to ensure clear communications about the program and that the needs of ICLS staff and library patrons are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day running of ICLS’s Lawyers in the Library Program, including scheduling advocates, onboarding new staff attorneys, and providing training.
  • Ensuring the delivery of legal services through the program, monitoring case files and compliance, and assisting to ensure program success.
  • Developing a training curriculum for staff on program-related legal areas and logistics.
  • Strategically expanding the program to include additional community locations and legal areas to meet community demand.
  • Managing relationships with staff, community partners, and others involved in the program.
  • Overseeing grant compliance and identifying additional funding sources for the program.

Desired Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Degree from law school and active member of the California Bar.
