Position: Veterinary Technician - Specialties
Department: Dentistry & Oral Surgery
Shift: Day (7am - 4:30pm)
Schedule: Monday - Thursday
On-call required, no more than three weeknight (7-hour) shifts per month and one Saturday or Sunday (12-hour) shift every two months.
Relocation Assistance: Eligible, up to $2,000 depending on region of relocation.

As a Veterinary Technician in our Dentistry & Oral Surgery Department, you will play a pivotal role within our outstanding team, dedicated to diagnosing and treating disorders of the oral cavity, teeth, as well as the bones, joints, and muscles of the head. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, including proficiency in medical terms and abbreviations, dental and oral health, animal restraint, diagnostic tests, and troubleshooting monitoring equipment - all essential components for success in this dynamic role. Each patient has a team of dedicated anesthesia technician, dentistry technician, and dentist & oral surgeon to maximize patient nursing, comfort, and safety.

Client Service
As every patient has an owner at the other end of the leash, we expect outstanding client communication, education, and care to be provided by all team members.
This role will provide delicate and continuity of care for all patients and clients by utilizing skills such as active listening, leading with curiosity to assume best intentions, and supporting all client's medical care decisions without judgement.
You will be trained to triage phone calls, review medical plans, perform financial transactions, and discharge patients leaving the hospital in addition to your typical technical skills and abilities.
Patient Care
Skills can be taught. We value training and professional development. You will be provided with a minimum of 16 training shifts before you're set free to save lives. These training shifts will be both on the floor, and classroom based, working closely with individuals from our professional development training team. When you succeed, we all succeed.
You will be comfortable with the basic tasks such as IVC placement, venipuncture, bloodwork (CBC/Chem/UA) and performance of x-rays and sedated procedures.
If you have advanced skills such as central line placement, urinary catheterization, anesthesia monitoring, surgical assistance, pharmacology, physiology, and advanced imaging, you will bring a wealth of knowledge to our motivated and education-hungry team.
Qualifications for Success
A.A.S or B.S Degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA-accredited school, along with current certification, license, or registration as a Veterinary Technician strongly preferred
Two years of client service or customer support experience, in addition to at least two years of clinical practice experience if credentialed, are required
Bonus points for certifications such as RECOVER CPR Certified and Fear Free Certified, and having a Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) certification is highly valued
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), data entry skills, exceptional interpersonal skills, organizational abilities, and strong typing skills are essential
