Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team at Petco #602. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional care to our patients and delivering outstanding customer service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians with appointments, surgeries, and other medical procedures
  • Perform laboratory tests, take vital signs, and record patient information
  • Administer medications, handle and dispense medications, and maintain electronic medical records
  • Communicate with clients, provide education on pet care and health, and relay test results
  • Prepare patients for procedures, monitor anesthesia, and provide post-operative care
  • Participate in training new staff members and contribute to the overall success of the hospital
Requirements
  • College or college-equivalent education as a Credentialed Veterinary Technician in the state where the hospital is located
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a veterinary practice
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Compassion, sympathy, and a professional attitude in emotionally challenging situations
  • Telephone and computer skills, with a willingness to learn new techniques and treatments
Work Environment

The majority of job duties will be conducted in the Vetco Total Care full-service hospital. The position requires bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing for long periods of time. A significant amount of time will be spent in direct contact with clients and their pets.

Contacts

This position will regularly communicate with clients, veterinary specialists, and companies that provide products and services to the practice.
