Shipping Specialist

Position Description • Prepare items for shipping, noting item contents, packaging and delivery methods, and other logistical details. • Schedule pick-ups with transportation companies via phone, internet, or customer web portals. • Navigate carrier software and other specific websites to prepare shipping labels, customs documentation and required compliance documentation, such as commercial invoices, etc. • Processing inbound/outbound shipments and unloading/loading on their respective carriers • Identify and resolve shipping, storage, or receiving discrepancies as they arise. • Gain and maintain an intimate operating knowledge of all processes, work instructions, and available equipment within department required to do assigned tasks. • Cooperate with cross-functional team members to make changes/improvements as necessary. GENERAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS • High school diploma or GED • A minimum of 1 year experience in a shipping/receiving/warehouse environment. • Proficient computer knowledge and ability: o Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook o ERP software • Ability to gain knowledge, understand, and abide by company: o Safety Rules and Procedures o Quality Processes and Procedures o Work Instructions o Core Values • Capable of working in a fast-paced manufacturing/warehouse environment. • Valid Driver's License • Ability to gain and maintain a valid forklift driver's license. • Physically capable and available to work overtime including weekends. • Excellent communication skills • Highly dependable, motivated, and self-driven with excellent attendance and punctuality. PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS • Healthy wrist-arm motion – repetitive motion of arms and shoulders • Required to change from sitting frequently to standing frequently. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. R.A.
