About the roleWe are looking for a rock star Are you an experienced PreK or TransK educator? Join our preschool children in a program that honors and celebrates each child's unique learning journey. Your role will allow you to foster independence in an environment of trust and warmth, while giving our students a strong love of learning. You will help build their confidence as they prepare for success in kindergarten. Greenwood/Hyattsville - NAEYC (National Association of the Education of Young Children) accredited, and an approved private school, serving families of federal employees and the community. Conveniently located next door to PG Plaza in a growing and revitalizing community (metro accessible) This position's starting rate is between $23-$25/hr with the necessary credentialsWhat you'll doProvide for the educational needs and interests of preschool children using a creative and age-appropriate curriculumSupervision of preschool children to ensure the health, welfare, and safety of all studentsSupport the physical, socio-emotional, and developmental needs of each child in the classroomDemonstrate effective leadership among the classroom teamDemonstrate effective communication skills and positive interpersonal relations with children, families, colleagues, and communityClassroom management that fosters a consistent, safe, and positive learning environment for all students and staffQualificationsThe education/certification requirements for a Lead Teacher position in our preschool program require a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree. Our ideal candidate will have 5 or more years of relevant experience and the following credentials/skills:Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and instructional strategiesStrong knowledge of MSDE regulationsA personal demeanor that is warm, friendly, and cool-temperedProficient technological skills including Microsoft Office is a plusExcellent verbal and written communication skills, including grammar and reading skillsExtremely reliable in attendance and punctualityHighly organized and able to prioritize and multi-taskTeam-oriented and willing to work with othersPer Maryland State Department of Education Office of Child Care regulations, all applicants must submit to and successfully pass a state and federal background check as a contingency of employment.
