Position Overview:

We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Software Configuration and License Manager to oversee the tracking and management of software versions and licenses within our complex system of systems. This role is essential for ensuring compliance, optimizing software usage, and managing procurement processes effectively. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and experience in software configuration management and license compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Software Configuration Management:
    • Maintain an accurate inventory of software configurations and versions across various systems.
    • Develop and implement processes to ensure consistent software deployment and version control as outlined in the PMA-268 Configuration Management Plan and PMA-268 SSA Plan.
  • License Tracking and Management:
    • Monitor and track all software licenses, including expiration dates and compliance with licensing agreements.
    • Create and manage a centralized database for software licenses and configurations for easy access and reporting.
  • Expiration Monitoring:
    • Proactively track license expiration dates, notifying stakeholders well in advance of renewals or replacements.
    • Generate reports detailing software license status, upcoming expirations, and compliance metrics.
  • Procurement and Vendor Management:
    • Identify and maintain relationships with approved software vendors, ensuring adherence to procurement policies.
    • Collaborate with the procurement team to streamline software acquisition processes and assess vendor performance.
    • Conduct market research to evaluate new software solutions that meet organizational needs.
  • Compliance and Audit Support:
    • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and ensuring compliance with software licensing agreements.
    • Conduct regular reviews to assess compliance risks and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Work closely with Software SMEs, finance, and legal teams to develop and refine software licensing and configuration policies.
    • Provide training and support to staff on software configuration management and licensing processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in software configuration management, license management, or a related role.
  • Strong understanding of software licensing models, compliance issues, and vendor management.
  • Experience with configuration management tools and software asset management (SAM) practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Experience:

  • Familiarity with complex systems and multiple software environments.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, and NAVAIR AMS Engineering Change Management (ECM).
  • Certification in software asset management (e.g., CSAM, SAMS) is a plus.
