Design Engineer is responsible for design engineering support of new and existing product, including part, progressive metal stamping, slide forming, sheet metal punching, and fabricating tool, welding and assembly fixtures, and gage design in a metal stamping, fabricating and assembly environment.

A qualified Design Engineer will also be responsible for:

  • Designing gages, staging fixtures and comparator traces to support inspection of production parts
  • Specifying material based on customer print and specifications
  • Establishing and maintaining design timeline
  • Providing customer feedback on print tolerances and product design for manufacturability
  • Supporting Tool Engineering, Production and Manufacturing Engineering during development and pilot run
  • Participating in product launch teams within the framework of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.

  • Associate’s degree in Mechanical Design Engineering or related field; a minimum of two (2) years related design experience required and a minimum of three (3) years of manufacturing, metal stamping or fabrication experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven organization skills required
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with Logopress3 preferred
  • 3D CAD proficiency required, SolidWorks preferred
  • Familiarity with APQP process preferred
