Job Description

The Epic Security Analyst II must understand the hospital system's Epic's Security infrastructure and possess in-depth knowledge of role-based user provisioning protocols and methods - both manual and automated. The Security Analyst will be involved in the day-to-day operations of the Epic Security team in the Epic IT division.

The person in this role will be expected to maintain the Epic SER (Provider) database. He/she will work with members of the User and Security Workgroups, the Provider (SER) Workgroup, Epic Project Teams, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and end-users to tailor the system to fit the needs of the organization.

The Epic Security Analyst II will fulfill Epic security requests that may come from all areas of the hospital system and will monitor the system activity of all end users. The Epic Security Analyst will analyze usage and trends, identify potential risks, and identify issues and breaches. The Security analyst may frequently work on and resolve issues under stressful and time-sensitive conditions.

The Security Analyst may also be called upon to help with other (non-Epic) network security related tasks, so a working knowledge of both Epic security and general security is highly recommended.

The Epic Security Analyst routinely performs in-depth analysis of workflows, data collection, audits, and other technical issues associated with the use of EPIC software; is responsible for developing and documenting the internal procedures that will be used in conjunction with Epic applications, and will design, build, test, install and maintain those solutions. The Epic Security Analyst is expected to use critical thinking skills in providing systems solutions to meet business needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Timely processing of various Epic user provisioning requests
  • Participate in the activities of the Epic Users and Security
  • Attend and participate in Facilities Security meetings
  • Assist in special projects, such as application go-lives, upgrades, enhancements, etc. Help IT staff as necessary migrate data from the various environments within Epic using standard utilities
  • Assist with Epic upgrade planning and testing
  • Maintain Nova Projects
  • Collaborate with the various Epic teams to ensure system security and integrity
  • Maintain competency by participating in continuing education and training specific to job responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a current Epic Security certification
  • Must have strong build experience (i.e., EMP and SER master files) including templates, lists, reports, etc.
  • Must be proficient with Data Courier
  • Epic Chronicles install utilities experience/knowledge a big plus
  • Must be able to communicate and interact extremely well with all levels within the organization
  • Must have working knowledge of MS Office Suite especially Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, & Word
  • Should have working knowledge of Epic's Sherlock and Nova applications
  • This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule during major upgrades and implementations
  • Must be willing to provide end user after-hours support on a rotating basis

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, & REQUIRED YEARS' EXPERIENCE

  • BA/BS degree mandatory (an IT area of specialization is preferred)
  • Minimum three years of experience in a dedicated Epic Security role required
  • A current Epic Security Certification is mandatory
