CONTRACT NURSE PRACTITIONER

Responsibilities:
1. Health Assessments and Examinations:
Conduct comprehensive health assessments and physical examinations for veterans, including reviewing VA medical records for a detail-oriented medical history, performing screenings, and assessing overall health status.
Perform specialized examinations related to veterans' service-connected disabilities, such as musculoskeletal, neurological, and mental health assessments, etc.
Evaluate and interpret diagnostic tests and laboratory results to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to ensure coordinated care and comprehensive treatment plans for veterans.
2. Disability Evaluations:
Assess the impact of service-connected disabilities on veterans' functional abilities, quality of life, and overall well-being.
Utilize clinical judgment and evidence-based practice guidelines to determine the severity and extent of disabilities and their impact on daily activities.
Document findings accurately and thoroughly in accordance with regulatory requirements and guidelines established by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
3. Patient Education and Counseling:
Provide education and counseling to veterans and their families regarding their health conditions, treatment options, and self-care strategies.
Empower veterans to actively participate in their healthcare management and decision- making processes.
Address veterans' questions, concerns, and informational needs in a supportive and empathetic manner.
4. Collaboration and Coordination:
Collaborate with VA healthcare providers, specialists, and community resources to ensure veterans receive timely and appropriate care across various healthcare settings.
Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members to facilitate care coordination, referrals, and follow-up services for veterans.
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance the delivery of healthcare services to veterans.
Qualifications:
Master's in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
Current unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license and prescriptive authority in the state of practice.
Certification as a Nurse Practitioner by a nationally recognized certifying body (e.g., AANP,ANCC).
Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner, preferably in primary care, adult health, or related specialty.
Experience working with veterans or in a VA healthcare setting is preferred but not required.
Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, with proficiency in conducting physical examinations and interpreting diagnostic tests.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport with veterans and collaborate effectively with healthcare team members.
Knowledge of VA regulations, disability evaluation guidelines (e.g., VA Schedule for Rating Disabilities), and electronic health record (EHR) systems is desirable.
Additional Information:
This is a contract 1099 position on-site at WellCare Holistics Health Center.
Competitive compensation offered based on experience and scope of skilled services.
Salary $55-$65/hr. Must conduct at least 2-3 veteran evaluations as scheduled.
Flexible scheduling options available, with the opportunity to work Full-time/Part-time/Per-diem (Days/Evenings/Weekends) basis.
Remote specialized training provided by the VA.
The Nurse Practitioner will work independently to perform veteran exams on-site at our designated location, following VA protocols and guidelines.
Opportunities for additional contract assignments and professional development may be available based on performance and organizational needs.
Flexible work hours may be required to accommodate veterans' schedules and clinic needs.
The NP will work closely with VA staff and adhere to VA policies, procedures, and standards of practice in providing healthcare services to veterans.
