iTi Tropicals is North America’s largest supplier of tropical and exotic fruit juice concentrates and purees. We are seeking a highly motivated self-starter who enjoys solving physical business problems in the warehousing and freight world. The storage and transport of product is mission critical to iTi Tropicals' ethos of delivering the highest quality customer experience to our food and beverage manufacturing customers. As such, selecting highly resourceful, extremely organized members of the freight team is of utmost significance to senior management.
The Logistics Specialist will interact with sales reps, executives, product managers, high value customers, and trucking and warehousing suppliers to efficiently plan and supervise the timely movement of products through the supply chain.
You will evaluate and select dry and reefer trucking carriers / brokers by optimizing their historic service record on specific lanes, on-time performance, and cost. You will play a critical role in the movement of Truckload (FTL) and Less-than-Truckload (LTL) shipments, track-and-trace of shipments, and managing internal and external stakeholders along our supply chain.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate transportation of pallets of industrial juices by using critical thinking skills to find the optimal asset-based carriers and brokers for both FTL and LTL shipments along a wide array of lanes across the US.
- Manage third-party warehousing vendors to properly pick, pack, palletize, and load liquid and powdered inventory in both dry and refrigerated (reefer) environments.
- Create release docs in our ERP (incl. picking ticket, packing slip, and other supporting documentation); Write clear instructions to third party warehouse operators and ultimately, truck drivers, to ensure they follow all customer and iTi procedures.
- Evaluate and select freight carriers based on service quality, on-time percentage, and overall cost; negotiate contract and spot over-the-road trucking rates is a big plus.
- Use experience in freight brokerage, private fleet operations, dispatching, or warehouse operations to find opportunities to use technology to increase process efficiency.
- Ensure all loads are on schedule through effective follow-up and communication with carriers and warehouse personnel.
- Provide timely and proactive updates to customers, sales reps, and executives regarding the status of shipment.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of inventory management, virtual warehouse ops, ground freight or logistics experience, preferably in the food & beverage or liquid inventory sector.
- Proficient in coordinating dry and reefer LTL and/or FTL shipments; fluency in logistics-talk / freight-speak is a plus, but we are open to teaching.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; Business or Supply Chain Management education is a plus; or equivalent experience.
- Skilled in crafting clear and concise emails; highly capable of succinctly “getting to the point” in verbal and written communications, with polish and professionalism.
- Comfortability operating in one or more transportation management systems (TMSs) and familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics GP are a plus.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Adobe Acrobat with a proven track record of managing hundreds of emails and dozens of active orders daily.
- Successful track record of keeping cool while managing high-stakes, time-critical customer deliveries.
