WordPress Developer
 NRTC is a dynamic and growing cooperative with more than 800 employees operating out of eight office locations. We are member-driven and technology-focused, providing solutions that help our 1,500 electric and telephone members bring all the advantages of today's evolving technology to rural America. Our solutions are developed specifically to meet the needs of rural utilities and their customers and include integrated broadband, managed services, smart grid, mobile, and video solutions.

Pivot, an NRTC company, is a marketing and customer experience agency with a focus on collaborating with people who are doing meaningful work in the communities they serve. Pivot comes alongside these organizations to help them grow and thrive by assisting them in defining and living out their brands, telling their unique stories, and strengthening relationships with their customers. Pivot has four practice areas, including broadband marketing, broadband CX, broadband vendors, and nonprofits.

Job Summary
The WordPress Developer will be responsible for providing excellent customer experience in the area of website development, with a specific focus on design implementation and feature build-outs. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of WordPress development, including the ability to build custom themes and plugins, optimize site functionality, and integrate third-party tools. You'll collaborate with our design, content, and marketing teams to create and maintain high-quality websites that align with our business goals and enhance user experience.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and manage websites using WordPress
  • Develop custom themes and plugins to meet project requirements
  • Customize existing WordPress themes and plugins as needed
  • Ensure site performance, security, and stability through regular updates and optimization
  • Troubleshoot and resolve website issues, including debugging and support
  • Collaborate with designers and content creators to implement design specifications
  • Maintain website performance metrics, ensuring SEO best practices are followed
  • Stay updated on the latest industry trends, tools, and WordPress updates
  • Manage front-end and back-end development requirements
  • Translate UX/UI design wireframes into code
  • Maintain graphic standards and branding throughout a site’s interface
  • Write functional requirement documents and specifications
  • Assure site responsiveness and adaptability
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities  
  • Proven experience as a WordPress Developer, including portfolio or case studies
  • Proficient in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, and PHP
  • Experience with responsive and adaptive design
  • Proficient with MySQL databases and server-side management
  • Knowledge of SEO and Accessibility principles and best practices
  • Understanding of version control systems, such as Git
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and time-management skills
  • Experience with Kadence WordPress Blocks
  • Familiarity with popular WordPress builders (e.g., Elementor, WPBakery)
  • Knowledge of WooCommerce, ACF, Gravity Forms, and other popular plugins
  • Experience managing websites hosted on WP Engine, including leveraging WP Engine's platform for site performance, security management, and efficient content delivery
  • Experience with third-party integrations and APIs
  • Basic knowledge of graphic design and UX/UI principles
  • Ability to strategize and articulate web concepts

Minimum Education and Experience   
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years professional web development experience
Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education

Physical Demands
  • Work is typically performed in a remote office setting 
  • Occasionally travel may be required up to 10%
