My client, a leading engineering firm specializing in heavy industrial, chemical, and petrochemical projects, is seeking an experienced Project Controls Specialist to join their team on a permanent basis.

 

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project controls, including scheduling, cost management, and budget tracking, with a focus on ensuring the successful execution of complex engineering projects.

 

The Project Control Specialist's role will involve:

 

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules for engineering, procurement, and construction phases using Primavera P6 software.
  • Assist in the development of project capital cost estimates across all project phases.
  • Support the pricing of services and schedule development for project proposals.
  • Set up project budgets and track costs and progress using project management software.
  • Establish subcontract and procurement budgets based on approved capital cost estimates and manage cost tracking through project completion.
  • Prepare change notices and change orders, maintaining accurate project budgets.
  • Contribute to the preparation of monthly project progress reports, including total project cost reports, schedules, physical progress updates, and earned value analysis.

 

The Project Control Specialist will ideally have the following experience and qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Management, or a related field is strongly preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 2+ years of experience with an engineering firm, ideally with project experience in heavy industrial, chemical, or petrochemical projects.
  • High proficiency in scheduling and cost control techniques.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
