Role and Responsibilities 

We are seeking an experienced Duct Skilled worker with 7+ years’ experience with sheet metal fabrication, design and installation to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be good at understanding air flow and duct modifications. This role focuses on physically assembling and installing ducts that support effective air flow, safety, and temperature control in a challenging environment. Ensuring High-quality workmanship by fabricating, installing, and mainlining ductwork systems throughout a factory. Given the heavy volume of dust in the state of Arizona, air duct sealing experience is essential to prevent outside particles from making their way into the HVAC units and throughout the site. 

 

1. Duct Fabrication & Assembly

  •    Fabricate ducts from sheet metal to meet specific HVAC system requirements. 
  •    Cut, bend and assemble ducts to create the required shape and size based on mechanical drawings. 
  •    Use precision tools (e.g., torch, welder, duct former, saws, snips) to ensure accurate fabrication of ducts. 
  •    Adjust duct size and shape according to the specific layout and air flow needs of the plant. 

 

2. Duct Installation

  •  Install fabricated ducts throughout the facility to support the HVAC system, ensuring optimal air flow and temperature & humidity control. 
  • Secure ducts in place using appropriate fastening systems and ensure they are properly aligned with the airflow design. 
  •  Adjust the positioning of ducts to minimize air pressure loss and ensure consistent airflow. 

 

3. Sealing & Dust Control

  •  Seal all duct joints and connections thoroughly to prevent air leakage. 
  •  Ensure that all ducts are sealed correctly to prevent dust. 
  •  Perform regular inspections of duct joints and seals to maintain integrity and prevent leaks. 

 

4. Site Work & Adjustments: 

  •  Adjust ductwork during installation to maintain proper air pressure and flow, ensuring that the system operates at peak efficiency. 
  •   Test ducts to ensure they are clear of obstructions and functioning as designed. 
  •   Address any challenges with tight spaces or complex configurations during installation. 

 

5. Safety & Compliance

  • Follow strict safety guidelines to ensure the work environment is safe for all workers. 
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, including gloves, eye protection, and respiratory protection if necessary. 
  •  Ensure all duct installations comply with local safety and environmental regulations, particularly regarding ventilation and air quality. 

 

6. Tool & Equipment Use

  •   Use advanced duct fabrication tools (e.g., duct former, spiral duct machine) safely and efficiently. 
  •   Operate manual and power tools (e.g., saws, drills, cutting tools) to fabricate and assemble ducts as per specifications. 
  •    Regularly maintain and check equipment to ensure it is in good working condition and troubleshoot any issues. 

 

7. Maintenance & Inspections

  •   Conduct routine inspections of installed duct systems to check for leaks, damage, or wear. 
  •   Perform repairs or replacements of damaged ducts or seals as needed. 
  •   Clean and maintain ducts to ensure the HVAC system operates effectively and air quality is maintained. 

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent 

  • HVAC License (CHD ACCA) 

  • 7+ year relevant experience 

 

Preferred Skills 

  • Ability to work at heights and confined spaces 

  • Design efficient and well-made duct systems that distribute air properly 

  • Comfortable in non-controlled climate environments
