P&C Technician 3

Powerserve Technologies is currently seeking Protection and Control (P&C) Technician 3. This opportunity covers the state of Florida and the Southeastern region of continental U.S with possible temporary work in other locations.

The role of this position is developing the knowledge and skills necessary to meet and excel in the following responsibilities, qualifications, etc.

Responsibilities of Position

  •          Organizational and time management skills are required to be productive because of the attention to detail required.
  •          Demonstrate basic understanding of AC and DC circuit theory, electronics, transformers, 3 phase systems, Boolean Algebra, etc.
  •          Learn the theory of operation of relays from different manufactures and protective systems, devices, instrumentation transformers, SCADA, etc. Teach theory to more junior technicians.
  •          Learn drawing symbiology, ANSI/IEEE relay function numbers and how different manufactures accomplish the functions.
  •          Demonstrate logical problem-solving abilities.
  •          Learn, understand and demonstrate advanced testing methodologies and proper use of multimeters, test equipment and testing devices.
  •          Learn to draw schematic/elementary diagrams from verbal descriptions.
  •          Learn, understand and use good Human Performance Tools along with testing and record keeping techniques.
  •          Learn to read and understand utility and other technical drawings.
  •          Learn how to identify the physical location, equipment and orientation shown on the drawings.
  •          Demonstrate familiarity with hand and power tools and their usages.
  •          Learn how to complete assigned paperwork, test forms and procedures in a timely manner. Learn to understand the reasoning behind the forms.
  •          Learn how to assemble control panels from drawings.
  •          Begin developing leadership and responsibility.
  •          Learn and follow all Human Performance, Safety and Environmental rules and use all procedures, processes and tools available. Take proactive steps to keep everyone safe.
  •          Learn to identify all substation equipment and explain the function it.
  •          Be an example to others. Let your actions be a model for other teammates.

Qualifications

Required (Basic):    

High school diploma with experience wiring control panels or similar products.

Competent in the understanding and application of Algebra and Trigonometry as it pertains to electrical theory and testing calculations.

Familiarity with 3 phase and

Introductory experience with setting and testing overcurrent microprocessor-based relays.

Experience in field control or control panel wiring.

Preferred:     

Associate of Science in applied field (electronics, power systems, information).

Associates of Arts with pre-electrical engineering electives.

One (1) year documentable experience in control panel wiring and protection and control systems.

Skills and Characteristics:

            Proficient in hand and power tool use.

We currently are performing substation and protection & control work throughout Florida and in various other states. We have performed these projects in Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Ohio, Michigan, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia. We excel at difficult projects and system-wide improvements/modifications. If we can perform the required work safely, in a quality manner, and with acceptable productivity, we will seriously consider any project.
