Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the evaluation and treatment of pediatric patients (birth to age 20) with speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders within a home health setting.
  • Implement therapy plans developed by the licensed Speech-Language Pathologist to support patient progress.
  • Document patient progress accurately and communicate updates to the licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Provide ongoing feedback regarding patient performance to the licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Participate in team meetings to review patient progress and collaborate on treatment plans.
  • Help create therapy materials and activities to engage pediatric patients.
  • Educate patients and their families on communication and swallowing disorders, therapy goals, and home exercises.
  • Maintain comprehensive patient records and ensure all documentation is completed promptly.
  • Participate in continuing education to stay current with best practices.
  • Adhere to federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines for patient care and documentation.

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication sciences and disorders or related field
  • Licensure or certification by the state of Texas as an SLPA

Preferred:

  • One (1) full year of supervised work experience preferred
  • Experience working in a home health healthcare setting
  • Proficiency in documentation software

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and assist with positioning clients.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to hear and communicate clearly with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Must have manual dexterity and visual acuity to perform therapy techniques.
