We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Buyer/Purchasing Specialist to join our client's team in Greenwood. This role is responsible for managing procurement processes to ensure the timely acquisition of goods and services that meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements. The Buyer will collaborate with suppliers, internal teams, and stakeholders to maintain a seamless supply chain while optimizing costs and building strong vendor relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procurement Management: Source, evaluate, and purchase materials, equipment, and services based on organizational needs.
- Vendor Relationships: Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating terms, pricing, and contracts to achieve the best value.
- Order Placement: Prepare and issue purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
- Inventory Control: Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to avoid shortages or excess stock.
- Cost Optimization: Identify cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing, volume discounts, and alternate suppliers.
- Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies, regulatory standards, and contractual obligations.
- Market Analysis: Stay updated on market trends, pricing, and supplier capabilities to support informed decision-making.
- Problem-Solving: Address and resolve issues related to delivery, quality, or pricing discrepancies with suppliers.
- Reporting: Prepare and present procurement performance metrics, cost analyses, and savings reports.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 4 years of relevant service experience in a distribution or operations environment.
- Skills:
- Proficient typing and computer skills.
- Clear and effective communication in English (written and verbal).
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
- Attention to detail with a sense of urgency.
- Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn, adapt, and build relationships.
- Service-minded with a focus on handling requests efficiently.
