We have an opportunity to join Cherry Bekaert's Finance and Accounting team as a Collections Specialist. In this role you are responsible for monitoring the status of delinquent accounts, contacting clients to collect and settle past due balances, and maintaining records associated with all collection activities. You will interact with a variety of clients across industries and as a representative of Cherry Bekaert will consistently uphold our shared values of uncompromising integrity, a passion for excellence, and mutual respect. Success in this role requires a knack for negotiation and problem solving along with a keen eye for detail.

This is an onsite position

In this role you will:

  • Communicate by phone or email with clients having past due accounts
  • Negotiate and set up payment plans or settlements within authority approval guidelines
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation of all attempts and/ or contact made and received
  • Review account histories with clients
  • Send monthly statements to clients
  • Post credit memos and adjustments to clients’ financial records
  • Reconcile client accounts and resolve unapplied payments
  • Monitor client payments with AR aging balance and credit hold status
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients
  • Maintain an appropriate balance between client service and collection efforts
  • Perform other duties and work on projects as assigned by the collection team leader.

What you bring to the role:

  • 2+ years of experience in accounts receivable/collections, preferably in a professional services office environment
  • Must be able to demonstrate complete proficiency in MS Office Suite of software
  • Must be able to function independently, have a keen sense of detail, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to interact professionally with all levels of the organization
  • Must possess strong negotiation and problem solving skills
