Data Engineer III

Description Summary: The Senior Level Data Engineer will be responsible for architecting, building, and optimizing our data pipelines and systems, using expertise in data management, security, and optimization, along with proficiency in ETL/ELT, batch and near real-time workloads, and CI/CD practices. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and effective communication are essential for success in this role.
Essential Duties:
The duties listed below are the essential functions of this position, and they may change as the needs of the company demand. All associates are expected to do what is necessary to get the work done and to cooperate fully with their supervisor's requests for additional or altered duties.
- Architect and implement data models and schemas for various data stores
- Optimize data systems for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and provide solutions
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical direction of the team
- Implement data governance and security measures to ensure compliance with regulations
- Develop and maintain documentation for data systems and processes
- Other duties as assigned
Education/Training/Experience:
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering roles is required
- Strong proficiency in Python and/or Java is required
- Extensive experience with SQL and database systems is required
- Expertise in big data technologies such as Apache Spark and Hadoop is required
- Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure) and their data services is required
- Experience with data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery) is required
- Knowledge of stream processing technologies (e.g., Kafka, Flink) is preferred
- Familiarity with data modeling, ETL design patterns, and best practices is required
- Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines is required
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail is required

- Strong communication skills; comfortable presenting to C level executives

- Experience with organizational strategies, business operations, and end-user requirements to develop system designs
- Excellent communication, leadership, change management, and coaching skills to establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships
- Extensive knowledge of business processes, strategic planning, and systems architecture; Hospitality industry experience is a plus
- Highly organized, motivated and solution oriented

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to perform work on a computer for extended periods.
- Ability to work in the office regularly, or pivot to working at home should emergency situations arise.
- Ability to attend work per assigned schedule and attend meetings with excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to bend and lift up to 25 lbs.
