Job Summary

The Instrumentation & Calibration Technician is responsible for implementation, support, and utilization of practices for assuring that test equipment adheres to specifications, standards, and internal quality requirements. The Instrumentation & Calibration Technician develops, tests, calibrates, maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots standard measuring and recording instruments/equipment (electrical, electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic based) used in a test laboratory to ensure conformance to calibration standards.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Set up, monitor, test, calibrate, adjust, and correct measurement devices and test equipment in accordance with company Quality Assurance (QA) Program and approved industry standards.
  • Proficient with control logic and system circuitry utilizing SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition)
  • Ensure proper calibration of programmable controllers, data acquisition, accelerometers, torque cells and other instrumentation.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on instrumentation, test apparatus and peripheral equipment.
  • Record and communicate detailed instrumentation inventory, usage cycles and procedures.
  • Coordinate calibration cycle to ensure instrumentation has completed calibration process and is available for use in test lab.
  • Maintain instrumentation inventory, storage, and order necessary spares.
  • Maintain all records of maintenance and calibration for instrumentation.
  • Work closely with the Engineers, QA Manager and Technicians to assist scheduling laboratory functions.
  • Actively participate in cross-functional work teams.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as needed and required by management.

Qualifications & Competency Requirements

  • GED or High School Diploma required; Associates or Technical degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years relevant instrumentation and electrical maintenance experience; must be able to demonstrate proficiency.
  • Demonstrated capability to troubleshoot, calibrate and repair all types of Process Instrumentation (flow, temperature, pH, level, pressure, etc.)
  • Awareness and knowledge of QA/QC standards and requirements.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safe work habits and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Must demonstrate a “Want-to” attitude with skills in prioritizing, problem-solving, and time-management.
  • Strong people skills with a proven ability to work both on a team and independently.
  • Must have effective verbal communication skills for interacting with co-workers and customers.
  • Able to lift, carry, move, or transport objects of up to 50 lbs.
  • Available to work daylight shift and willing to work overtime when necessary.
  • Must have reliable transportation/be able to manage daily commute into the lab.
  • Must be able to pass drug screening and background checks.

This is a Non-exempt, hourly position. Upon successful completion of Clark Testing's introductory review period, eligibility for benefits may include medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, employee assistance program, 401(K) plan with discretionary employer match, paid time off and paid holidays.
