Job Key Activities and Performance Indicators:

• Set up and operate computerized numerical control machines to cut, shape, or form metal stock to customer drawing and order specifications.
• Reads and understands setup sheet, specifications and drawings to determine setup procedures, machining sequence and dimensions of finished work piece.
• Attaches fixtures to machine and position and secures work piece in fixture according to setup instructions.
• Selects and installs proper cutting tools.
• Loads programs in machine control unit or enters commands to retrieve machine instructions from database.
• Manipulates controls and enters commands to index cutting tool to specified set point and to start machine.
• Observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
• Changes cutting tools and location of work piece during machining process as specified in instructions.
• Measures and inspects first work piece for conformance to specifications and quality standards. Continues to monitor quality using AQL procedures and methods.
• Maintains accurate counts and follows bar code and paperwork flow procedures.

Notifies supervision of discrepancies.

• Adjusts machine feed and speed, and changes cutters to machine parts according to specifications when needed.
• Knowledge of machine operation, quality inspection process and safety standards preferred.
• This position will report to the CNC Supervisor and works closely with other CNC team members and quality team to ensure that parts produced meet our rigorous customer quality expectations.

Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED
3-5 Years CNC machinist experience required
Mastercam a plus
4 & 5 Axis Machines

Skills and Competencies:
Good Math Skills
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs required.
Problem solving
Reliable transportation to be at work on schedule.
