Position: Direct Support Staff

Location: Lumberton, NC

FIRST THINGS FIRST... WHAT IS A MULTIPURPOSE HOME?

Multipurpose homes are residential facilities designed to support youth. These homes have proven effective in interrupting lifetime criminal behavior patterns for Level II repeat juvenile offenders. MHC staff live and work in each home, covering 10 judicial districts, implementing a care model that teaches teens to change problem behaviors and attitudes, expand their skills, and recover from setbacks and mistakes.

WHAT DO DIRECT SUPPORT STAFF DO?

As a Direct Support Staff member, your primary responsibility is to provide essential program services to intervene with adolescents in a residential group home setting. Your key duties will include:

  • Implementing direct treatment services using MHC's care model.
  • Providing residential care services.
  • Engaging with adolescents, families, volunteers, and community representatives within the youth home and the broader community.

ARE YOU QUALIFIED?

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma with experience working with the client population.
  • Must maintain a valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended periods.

Benefits Available After 90 Days of Employment:

  • Paid Holidays: MHC offers full-time employees paid holidays each year.
  • Vacation Leave: Pro-rated at 10 days (80 hours) per year for the first partial calendar year of hire.
  • Sick Leave: Accumulates at 12 days (96 hours) per calendar year, with unused sick leave carrying over into the next year.
  • Health Benefits: Choose between the BCBS Medical Base HSA Plan or Medical Buy-Up HSA Plan. Dental and Vision plans are also available.
  • Health Care Flex Plan: Optional Health Care Flexible Spending Account (HSA) for tax-free reimbursement of out-of-pocket medical, dental, and vision expenses for employees and their dependents.
  • Dependent Care Flex Plan: Optional Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for tax-free reimbursement of eligible dependent care expenses.
  • Life Insurance: Term life insurance provided by MHC for full-time staff in the amount of $75,000. Supplemental life insurance available for individual or family coverage.
  • Workers’ Compensation: Agency-paid benefit covering on-the-job injury.
  • 403B Plan: Employees can contribute to a tax-deferred annuity plan, with MHC matching a portion of the contributions.
  • Credit Union: Membership offered to all employees with Coastal Credit Union (CCU).
  • Employee Assistance Program: Agency-paid benefit providing confidential, professional counseling for employees and their families.
