Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to veterinarians in the care and treatment of animals. Your expertise will help ensure the health and well-being of pets while delivering exceptional service to pet owners. This position requires a strong commitment to animal welfare and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
  • Perform animal catheterization and administer medications as directed.
  • Maintain aseptic technique during surgical procedures.
  • Provide pet care, including feeding, bathing, and grooming.
  • Handle animals safely and effectively, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Monitor animal vital signs and report any changes to the veterinarian.
  • Maintain accurate medical records for each patient.
  • Manage kennel duties, including cleaning and sanitizing animal housing areas.
  • Educate pet owners on proper pet care and health maintenance.
  • Support veterinary critical care by assisting with emergency procedures.

Skills

  • Proficient in animal catheterization techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology.
  • Experience in veterinary critical care settings is preferred.
  • Excellent animal handling skills, particularly with dogs and other common pets.
  • Familiarity with aseptic techniques in a clinical environment.
  • Ability to provide compassionate pet care and grooming services.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with pet owners and team members.
  • Organizational skills to maintain accurate records and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
