CNC Programmer

Position Overview:

This newly created CNC Programmer position is designed to assist in upgrading and optimizing CNC machines at our facility. The primary responsibility will be converting and rewriting existing CNC programs to work with newly upgraded machinery. The role will also involve optimizing CNC programs for efficiency by adjusting feeds, speeds, and tooling, as well as ensuring the machines are running at their best.

Scope of the Role:

  • Rewrite old CNC programs to fit new machinery (FANUC and Siemens controls).
  • Optimize CNC programs for better cycle times and machine efficiency.
  • Review tooling and machine setups for potential improvements.
  • Work directly with CNC Machinists and Manufacturing Engineers for support and feedback.
  • Programs are written in G&M codes (currently no CAD/CAM system in place, but AutoDesk Fusion is being considered for future implementation).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and modify CNC programs (G&M code) for various CNC machines (including Toyoda, Doosan, Okuma, and Haas).
  • Optimize machine performance by fine-tuning programs, feeds, speeds, and tooling.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing team to address challenges and enhance machining processes.
  • Review tooling and part setup to ensure efficiency and precision.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve programming and machine-related issues.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of CNC programming experience, with proficiency in G&M code programming.
  • Experience with FANUC and Siemens controls preferred.
  • Experience in optimizing CNC programs, including cycle time reduction and tooling improvement.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, optimize, and modify CNC programs independently.
  • Experience with Haas, Doosan, Toyoda, or Okuma machines is a plus.
  • CAD/CAM experience (AutoDesk Fusion preferred, but not required).
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining principles, including feeds and speeds, tooling, and part setup.
  • Ability to hit the ground running and work with minimal direction.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with AutoDesk Fusion for CAD/CAM programming (not a requirement but will be valuable).
  • Knowledge of CNC machine operation and tooling setup.
  • Experience converting old programs for new machines or systems.
